If you've dyed your hair black, that is going to be very hard to lift without damaging it.

The loreal hair color remover works great except they wouldnt sell it to me at sallys because I dont have a license but at some random beauty shop they didnt even ask. As for transitioning from black to auburn it can be done but its best to take the process slow and not do it all at once

Yes, I agree with Gabriela Nicole... Color Oops has no peroxide in it,and it works well! If You plan on using something else, pay close attention to the ingredients so you can avoid peroxide =)

I've used colour b4 several times and it always works for me. Get the extra strength if your going from black or hair that's been dyed a lot

I saw a lot of great reviews for Rusk's Elimin8 and it doesn't have bleach, so hopefully that should help. Plus I've been wanting to use it, so I'll let you know the results.

To remove color without damage I always shampoo with dawn dish soap for a few weeks and it lightens color pretty well and is inexpensive. Or you can make a paste out of regular shampoo and baking soda and it stripe color naturally as well and shampoo and rinse with warm water. It accelerates everything.

Color oops is great but what color was your hair before black? Because color oops just knocks the color off you have now to the last color you had,so just think about that

And make sure if you use color oops when you rinse it out do that for a half hour the longer you rinse the more color comes out.

thank you ladies for the helpful information, tips, and or advice! I wasn't logged on so I was not able to read the extra comments..... I ended up going to Sallys Beauty Salon and bought the ion golen medium blonde two (havent used) the creme lightener(used and DID NOT work whatsoever for my hair, only on roots and on top of that damaged my hair sadly.... making it all dry and just not lushious!!!) than the 20 volume thing(ehh its whatever) but I will be returning my products that ive bought to dye my hair. really sad it only worked on my roots leaving an ugly red patches of color around my scalp! on the brightside ive decided to just go to the salon to get my hair done.

I'm so glad you're going to a salon. You can't lift Colour with Colour ... As you found out. You should never try to do a drastic change going lighter by yourself .As a stylist I have spent many , many hours fixing girls hair who have tried to lighten at home . And that "Oops" product? Well I have had heads in my chair with broken fried hair from it. There is a method and a science to lifting and depositing Colour . It should be done by a professional .

colour b4. if your hair is black then it will remove it to the colour you had before. I had my hair like a ginger blonde then black and colour b4 got it back to that blonde ginger:D
