Tripods- Yay or nay?

If you make YouTube videos, I'm curious if you use a tripod or not to film. If so, how does it help you make videos? If you don't, do you want one? Why?

Tripods are sort of essential to making videos of yourself. It holds the camera in place so that it's not shaking around or falling over. And so you dont have to hold it up every time you film :3

Thanks for your input! But still, is there any difference from putting the camera on a pile of books and a tripod? (:

The pile of books would have to be at eye level or higher when your filming so the camera can see your whole face. Honestly a tripod would just be easier & more functional if you plan on doing videos.
