How light for Deep Red...?

I've got dark brown hair and want a deep red look.
I'd prefer not to bleach my hair because I don't want it that bright, any suggestions for good hair lighteners? I've been told to keep using Sun In?

You can use a 40 volume developer to lighten your hair. It's not as harsh as bleach. Takes a bit longer but it can lighten you hair to a golden light brown. I've done it before using some 40 volume developer from Sally's Beauty Supply. Also don't forget to use a neutralizing shampoo and conditioner after lightening
