Try starting with neutral colors first, maybe only two colors , one for all over the lid and the second for the outer corner. Then once you feel you've mastered the two colors add a third color. Then once u get better start working with non neutral colors and remember blending is key for a smokey eye so it may take a few minutes but just keep blending
Hope this helped

I always always with any color use a soft brown tone color as my transition and to always blend out any harsh lines with that. A great color would be soft brown, cork or even omega by Mac. That's key to a smokey eye.. To always blend out any harsh lines

Try a simple variation of a smokey eye before you start trying to do one that's Kardashian style. Start off using a black eyeliner in a thick line close to the lashes and smudge that out. Use a matts cream colored shadow on the brow bone to highlight it subtly. Then just use a medium grey to blend the black out into the cream.

if you get the Urban Decay Smoked palette there is a lengthy instructional booklet included with a lot of Smokey eye looks. I would start with a dark base either blended out gel pencil or a cream base and build lightly from there, add more as you go. blend blend blend and make sure you are using the right brushes. practice is the best way and maybe have a few photos from a magazine or online handy as reference

Smokey eyes are always tricky. If to dont place your colors right then it can look like you got punched in the eye. If you're going for a dark/black smokey eye I would put a color close to your skin tone in your crease, this will be a HUGE help with your smokey eye. Take a black and pat it on your lid only, and smoke it out with some browns. Tip that I found works really well: blend out your black with some shimmery browns. I always found that shimmery colors are way easier to blend than matte so it's hides a lot of mistakes and what not. Hoped this helped!

When starting off its easier to use a nude colour all over a shimmery close to the inner of your eye keep the black at the outer corners and slowly start dragging it up to the crease and across the middle of your eyelid

I have a pretty easy and not too dramatic smokey eye tutorial up on YouTube! Try watching to see if it helps you out.. You may not be using the correct brushes, that could make a big difference :) www.youtube.com/AshweeBunn hope it helps!!! Xo
