Using a color remover won't bring you back to your natural color or even the previous color, it lifts the hair like bleach and will expose the natural pigment in your hair so anywhere between red-yellow depending on your natural color. If you want to go lighter than the color in your hair then you have to use a color remover or bleach to get lighter then you have to color over it to get your desired result.
