I'm afraid my suitcase will get lost so I wanna carry it with me! Is foundation, primers, setting sprays, etc.allowed?

Jen S.
Yes. However when it comes to perfumes, body washes, creams, lotions, shampoo, etc. I think you are only allowed a small bottle. Makeup should be fine.

Yes you can. As long as it isn't over 100ml (3.4 oz). That's for in Canada anyway.

Just so you know, I've never in my life put my liquid items into a quart sized bag, or taken them out for security. I do travel a lot, and to a lot of different places, and I really don't think it's that big a deal. Make sure it's 3 ounces or less, and then it doesn't matter how you pack it.

What em said. If it's liquid it must be in a ziploc bag and has to be put on the try along with metals and such.

I feel like a square but I always follow the quart sized bag and 3 Oz liquid/cream products. Then again I know which airports are the most strict (Amsterdam anyone?) so sometimes I'll leave mascara and eyeliner outside the bag if I only have a carry-on bag.

Sorry, after the first phrase I meant to add "rule". Lol I got carried away!

I want to go to Amsterdam! Lol.

See Breeze, I went through crazy Heathrow security a few weeks ago, and they were like "do you have any chapstick, mascara, eyeliner, lipgloss, lipstick, hand cream" every possible thing you could think of. I had literally every single one of those things in my bag, calmly told them that no, I didn't have anything, and went through without a problem. And especially in the US, they really don't care.

Lol yeah Hannah I'm such a wuss, I'd never do that! I just hate having people waiting on me. I like being a savvy traveler since I fly a lot, and because I get angry when people have a bunch of stuff to prepare or throw away, and the worse ones are the ones that never heard of these restrictions before, and are traveling with hairspray, water and sunblock, all while wearing strappy gladiator sandals to the knee. Grr! Sorry about that mini rant! But yeah, normally small things go unnoticed. My boyfriend last summer forgot that he had juice boxes in his bag, and he had like 6 of them. Lol and nobody saw them at security haha I was so surprised! Oh and I actually like the restriction, because it forces you to bring multi-tasking products and be creative... Not to mention - buying more makeup abroad!

I feel the same way, people in airports who don't have their act together need a separate line. It's complete crap. I travel a ton, as well, and I know how to get through a security line in less than 5 minutes. I don't mind packing less or multitasking products (sup, Nars Multiple?) but if I do happen to have all of my makeup for 4 weeks in a carryon, I'm not dealing with taking all of that out. Heck no. Easier to say nothing lol.

If the makeup is solid you can put it in zipper bag on heathrow London but you can't take liquids bases more than 100ml bottle and if it's less then 100ml you have to put it in a zipper bag.

I feel you Hannah! :) That makes total sense ;)

Don't break rules like me! Lol my family used to travel a ton before everything got crazy and strict and awful, and I remember not having to do anything special at all, I just never changed my ways :)

Yeah, honestly I think the TSA is there for peace of mind vs. actual protection. Wasn't there some study where they misse like 60% of the bombs that went through x rays lol? Don't be too worried about it.
What erks me the most isn't unorganized people in airports it's unorganized airports. Frankfurt is a nightmare. I've even heard Germans say it has the ambiance of a garage lol.

Fortunately I've never been there, but a few of the worst airports of all time: LAX, MIA, Bogotá, Heathrow, Buenos Aires...just ridiculous. In Cartagena, Colombia, they used a bag scanner and then STILL took everyone's stuff apart, for double security. I freaking hate when people touch my stuff. Then they shove it all back in and hand it back to you like you don't have to spend 20 minutes rearranging it to how it was in the first place! Ugh. Maybe that's just me, I'm very particular about my things and being able to find them.

I was just in Heathrow early June and I thought it was amazing! Although, it was a new terminal. That sounds like a serious pain. Lol, I fly out of O'Hare frequently and they are usually good, but a few trips ago they searched my luggage. When they were done they were like "now where did that man go?" My sister and I were practically screaming that it was my bag, and after like 10 minutes he gave it to us! Was the women's clothing not a clue it wasn't that man's lol. Luckily I've never been to a Columbian airport. Coming from a family of people in the travel buisness sets my bar somewhat high lol.

Oh, I hate that so much, when they go through your stuff! Once in Amsterdam I didn't even know I had a Ziploc with a few vitamins in it (the huge plastic container wouldn't fit in my backpack) and they asked me a hundred times what they were -_-' they were so specific "just OPEN your backpack zipper and NOTHING ELSE" "now open this compartment ONLY". Geez! Well at least they didn't touch all my stuff and misplaced it. What I do worry about are the searches the tsa does to checked luggage, because you only find out when you're home. I just got paranoid after I saw that episode of orange is the new black (Cindy). Anyone know what I'm talking about?

A few things: Maggie, Cartagena, Colombia is super beautiful, and I definitely recommend going if you can. Stay in the Sofitel Santa Clara. My dad was an ambassador for about 20 years before I was born, and that love of travel transferred to me. Trust me, I have high standards for traveling too lol and Breeze, I don't watch that show but I've had things stolen from my bag in Brazil before (TAKE ALL TAGS, RECEIPTS, AND GIFT PACKAGING OUT OF YOUR BAG OR THEY WILL TAKE IT IT's SERIOUSLY AWFUL). I live in fear of stuff like that, I end up with the TSA checks all the damn time. It's the worst.

Hi Maggie, I agree with Hannah about how beautiful Cartagena is, its one of the most beautiful cities I've ever seen and its arquitecture is stunning. there are also great hotels and beautiful beaches and colonial buildings. sorry if I went a bit off-topic jajaja.

Haha, didn't wanna come of as rude, I do want to see Colombia lol. Airports like that scare me though lol.

Cartagena airport is actually nice, they just double check :) bu Bogotá is like the most terrifyingly high security airport of all time haha I do understand the fear of that.

Lol yeah, I live in WI, so I have to constantly make connections through a regional airport, and if all securities were that basic, traveling would be a whole lot easier.
