So I've gotten henna from friends before, but I've never done it myself and I want to buy some and start doing it. What's some advice for doing it your first time (I.e. What I should use to apply it, good brands, application techniques, pretty designs)

•get the natural brown one because it's better for your skin
•get it off eBay! It's cheap!
Good luck! 😊

Thanks for the advice so far :) can I apply it with a paint brush?

I wouldn't use a paintbrush because you want to have a thick line. What I do us just fet a bag and fill it with the henna, seal it off reall good with a ciuple rubber bands, then snip a VERY tiny hole on the corner and do that. Sometimes I use a paintbrush though to blend the henna out or something.

At some places where hennas are done professionally they also sell the henna and jagua tubes. Just snip off the end and apply your design! Keep the tubes in fridge when not in use and wait an hour to two hours to let it dry.

You could use that brush but they also sell pre mixed henna in cones which I find works best if you're just starting because body henna is VERY temperamental. It takes a while to get the mixture perfect. Mine is always runny or sometimes not wet enough. lol it's very aggrevating.

I have mine in a cone like this, but I previously had one in a tube and it had a nozzle which you can attach when you were using it.
It would be best to practise on a piece of paper before you draw on your skin, in case you mess it up.
I leave it on until it starts to flake off itself (which is about an hour or one and a half) because this makes the colour darker, and the darker it is the longer it'll last.

You can also get them at those asian salons where they do eyebrows and henna etc.

Rachel, another advise is that if you want your henna to last longer and you want it to retain the dark color for a while, apply coconut oil a few hours after you wash off your henna.
