If you don't have blonde hair, bleach it.

Go to a salon which uses matrix, the reds are Ariel red!
(you'll have to bleach it up if your dark!)

Well i've been looking in to L'oreal Hicolor Hilight for dark hair in Red, and you aren't suppose to have to bleach it before you use it

If your read to.die your hair every two to three weeks , go for it . If your not , dont even bother . Its a lot of maintenance hun

It is a lot of maintenance, I always went back to red after whatever color I had been trying and always switched again because it faded too fast. But honesty I'd go to a salon to start with, especially if there's any bleaching involved. Doing bleach on your own can be a disaster. I'd go to a salon for the initial transition and then ask for advice on what products you can buy to maintain color on your own at home. Denisha is right though, if you aren't ready to constantly touch the color up then I wouldn't go through the trouble of bleaching your hair. Sadly red hair seems to look bad more often than it looks good if you aren't willing or able to re-color frequently :/

Do not bleach your hair . Do not ! I have dark brown hair , and I died my hair using drug store hairdye and it came out little mermaid red ! I don't do that color anymore because it made me look extremely pale , but look at the colors , I can't remember what I used the first time , but there is no need to damage your hair more by bleaching if you don't have too ! Good luck(:

I use HI-Color by Loreal and i love it!! Its not very harsh on my hair either. I use that mainly for my roots, and any random red i feel like trying from the beauty store with it for my whole head (without developer just to give it a little color). I do the all over color about every 2 weeks and my roots once a month. I also dont wash more than twice a week :)

Always wash your hair with cold water, helps the colour stay in longer and redken shampoo it will help. Warm water will bring the colour out.

I get my hair dyed by a professional and even then it fades what can I get my stylist to add so it don't fade but still looks a pretty bright red

Go to a salon. Like someone said red box dye is very unpredictable. You can rinse with vinegar and cold water to help the colour from fading.
