Are you supposed to clean your makeup brushes after every single use? And I was told about a diy baking soda solution. Does it work?

Once a week I would deep clean them with a brush shampoo of some kind, whether its store bought or homemade. Every other day or so I would spray your foundation and concealer brushes with a brush cleansing spray. It will remove some excess product and kill bacteria. Brushes for powders are more forgiving because most powders have antibacterial properties added to them, where as bacteria grows in liquids easier. Definitely don't deep clean them every day, that can ruin them. I haven't heard of the baking sofa solution though so I don't know if it works or not

Spot clean daily and deep clean as needed. Usually bi-monthly for me. Deep cleaning too often can loosen the glue and your bristles will fall out.

I clean once a week with baby shampoo. Everyday is a bit excessive.

I spot clean brushes with every use with a spray bottle makeup brush cleaner, then rub the excess makeup off on a paper towel. Once a week the brushes get a deep clean with baby shampoo.
I'm a germophobe with acne problems so I don't need more bacteria from my brushes to make it worse.

I clean mine at least once a week so the bacteria doesn't keep growing on my brushes. I use dish soap and olive oil and the soap get all the makeup and germs off and the olive oil conditions the brush. After you dry your brushes, make sure to have the brushes face down so that the extra water doesn't go back into the metal thing and loosen the glue!

I don't use my brushes more than twice because my skin is so sensitive and acne prone. But I have 3 Sigma F80s so that gets me through the week. Then I deep clean them with alcohol and baby shampoo

Are we talking about personal sets or sets you use on clients? I clean my personal brushes properly once a week but I shampoo my client brushes after ever use. Is that right?

@Emma J. I think that's okay that you wash the ones you use on clients after every use. It's better to start clean with each client. You definitely don't want to risk giving a client an infection or break out. So I say the cleaner the better. Just condition them well enough so they hold up. They may wear out faster than your personal brushes but that's better than giving someone an infection for sure.

You should always sanitize each brush you use everyday.

I use baby wipes for spot cleaning after I use them and a brush cleansing solution less than I prob should, because I don't think about it.
