YouTube is your best friend for application techniques. I recommend Michelle Phan or Andreas choice, they are a few of my favs. :)

Dustyohunter is really great! He'll teach you about the purposes of makeup in addition to teaching you how to apply it. He has introduced me to some great brands and products and he really branches out for more dramatic looks too. He's very knowledgeable.

Always use an eyeshadow base (an official kind or concealer) before applying eyeshadow. And have fun!
