I'm not trying to "hate" on any of you and I realise all of America does it, but this really irritates me as an Irish person. It is not 'Pattys' day. It is Paddys day or St Patricks Day but it never was, and never will be 'Pattys day'. Thank you.

@Jacqlyn what part are you from? I've never ever heard an Irish person call it that. It doesn't even make sense to call it Pattys day though, you wouldn't go around calling a guy called Patrick 'Patty'.

Caitriona H.
As I said in my first comment Americans call it that, for the people that actually live in Ireland we would never say that.

I'm not being thick here but just in general not directed at you jacqlyn but it annoys me when people who have decades old decadents who where Irish and go around claiming to be Irish. I'm not hating on it but..

I have to agree with Eilish here. I'm sure your passport says American not Irish-German-American. @Sandra, I wasn't trying to be rude I'm just saying as someone who was born and has lived in Ireland with my all irish family my whole life it pisses me off that it gets called 'Pattys' day and no one corrects it, so I'm correcting it now. I'm from Galway Eilish so we're neighbours :P.

In all fairness now lads @Sandra C. I just feel that if your born and raised american,Mexican etc. I think you should be claiming to be american,Mexican etc.. If you have Irish or whatever disant descendants then yes you are part whatever culture, but don't go claiming as Irish (example) when you are part of your own culture were you were born and raised. I'm not trying to offend anyone its just my opinion. :)

ohhhh sorry :)

Well like that no but I've seen people who have grown up in certain places there whole lives and their entire family is there but are going off claiming to be someone else.

If he spent most of his life in Florida then he would be American...She wasn't saying its where you are born, shes saying where you were raised and what culture you live by. My sister was born in England but has never lived there a day in her life, she doesn't call herself English, why would she? In my eyes you can't say your Irish or any other nationality unless you spent most of your life there. If my mom was from Australia (she isn't) I wouldn't say I was Australian. I would say 'I'm one third Australian' or 'My moms Australian' you get me?
Thanks Elaine, I don't, don't worry ;)
