I didn't really know what category to put this under 😥 sorry girlies
But I have a question
I put Vaseline on my eyelashes before I go to bed then clean it off in the morning but some girls on here are saying that putting Vaseline around the eye area is bad?? Is that true?

I use coconut oil or Sweet Almond Oil.

Vaseline is a sealant. It's going to seal the pores of your lashes and seal the follicles, prevent bacteria from being flushed out, and possibly cause cysts and infections. It also doesn't help your eyelashes to grow at all. Any improvements you think that you see are just product build up.

I use Vaseline to remove my waterproof eye makeup just before I wash my face. I've had no problems at all. There are other products you can use - as mentioned previously - coconut oil or olive oil based.

I've never heard of Vaseline clogging pores- in fact I've heard the opposite. I use it to remove eye makeup, and at night I put it on my eyebrows to smooth and condition them. Eyelashes I'd be careful with, though :)

My only problem with Vaseline (all petroleum jelly really) is how its made. When oil is extracted for use in cars and what not, they separate the crude oil by boiling it. Along with car oil, one of the by-products of this process is petroleum jelly. Not really something I want to put on my face...

I always do that! It softens your eye area and helps your eyelashes to grow!

Here is a picture explaining why you really shouldn't put Vaseline on your face, or lashes. Hannah is right, and if you are using it to make your lashes grow, just know that the only thing thaat can do that is Latisse..

Vaseline was originally created for workers who would cut themselves because it protects the skin from coming in contact with air and getting infected. No, it does not clog pores but it is bad to put it around your eyes because it does not dissolve. What happens is that it slides behind your eyes and collects into a lump. Continuous use means a larger mass would be building up behind your eye...there have been cases in which women had to get the Vaseline surgically removed from behind the eye. I can't imagine you'd want that!

It does clog your pores. Just saying. Anupa M. you are correct about the eye thing, but it does also clog your pores, trust me I've done my research, and I know from personal experience. :))) Have a marvelous day ladies!!:)))

I've used Vaseline for years in my eyelashes & eye area & I've never had an infection thank god. I use it to seal the humectant (coco oil). I however did not see any eyelashes growth in these years, they're only more hydrated.
