I have naturally curly/heavy wavy thick down to middle of boob hair and it won't curl with any iron (straightening, wand, or curling iron) how can I get it to curl?!

Do you use a lot of heat in your hair? Do you dye it a lot? You could have killed the curl in your hair.

Never dyed it and use heat (straighten) about once every 2 weeks with protector. My hair is very healthy

I do hair masks, get my hair trimmed every 7-9 weeks, use sulfate free shampoo and conditioner, use natural oils, let it air dry, etc. my hair is extremely healthy according to multiple stylists.

My hair is healthy and can't hold a curl very long because its super thick but what has helped was using smaller sections and spraying a little hairspray from a distance then curl then add a little more hairspray.

I have similar hair texture and I'd like to think my hair is healthy. Honestly I think its just wavy hair. I have fine hair as well (albeit a lot of it) so its not thick. The only thing that holds a curl is lots of hairspray.

I have the same issue if I try to curl with only heat it doesn't happen my hair is too heavy and even if it does curl at first it will be straight by the end of the day - there are a couple things you can try - use a curling mousse on wet hair n let air dry - DO NOT BLOW DRY - blow drying makes my hair stay straight so don't do that - after it dries then spray with a scrunching/curl boosting hair spray and then try to curl with a curling wand and while your hair is in the clamp spray with hair spray - do this for every curl and it should hold for at least a few hours - if you need more hold spray again once all the curls are done - now if you hate sticky hair sprays and heat and want a more natural way to get curles - try using rollers in your hair overnight - in dry hair it will reduce frizz but if you do it wet it usually lasts longer and then blow dry any lingering wetness with the rollers still in if its still wet in the morning - so depending on how much time you have to get ready both methods have worked for me - but the curles only last like 12 hours or so by the time I go to bed hair is wavy or straight again :T hope that helps.

Try curling your hair a day after washing. It might help. And separate your hair into smaller sections when you do it. You can also use a texturizing spray before you do it.

I have the same problem my hair is big and curly naturally but the irons never seem to do the job. my hair stylist when I got married wrapped sections of my hair around het finger sprayed it with hsirspray pulled it of n then put a slice if time foil around it covering up to the root kind of like a sandwich. then after my make up she just git the iron and held it over each slice of tin foil for s little while then 5 mins later voila!
