I have very flat, straight, and thin dark brown hair! I don't mean like curls and whatnot. I want a hair design such as a French braid, dutch braid, etc. thanks a bunch!

Try a halo braid! You can loosen it afterwards by pulling it apart a little to give more volume and it's reeeeally pretty. It's a variation of the Dutch braid and it goes all the way around your head (tutorials on YouTube)
