I'm new to YT as well :0) Just be yourself, take on topics that you have interest in, participate in contest, tag videos, and video responses to get your name out there, and be persistent and consistent...all things that I should be doing myself! Definitely be yourself! Also don't be afraid to promote your videos, be proud of what you have accomplished! Also practice a few times before you get in front of the camera!

Definitely do not get discouraged if you get a dislike on any video. No matter what you do, someone, somewhere will not like it. It's unavoidable to come across a person like that. Everyone gets dislikes, it will not only be you. So once again, please don't get discouraged and do not let anyone bring you down.
A tip I suggest is to keep your videos on a limited time. Since you're starting out, people do not know you and some would not bother to sit through a 11-13 min video. Now, I try to keep my videos around 5-7 mins long.

you will never be able to please everyone. even if 1 person dislikes it there could be 20 people who like it....practice a lot and do what you love. there is a ton of hate on YT that just comes with the territory, I have people (who i dont know and are just random people) that will pass by my channel and write nasty comments. erase 'em, block them and look forward--no matter what follow ur heart! xo

Hey girl! I just started out too, it was really hard for me to post my first video because I was kind of afraid people would laugh but then I got over it because I loved being in front of the camera so much!! just have fun with it until it isn't fun for you anymore! x0

I've been doing youtube for the past couple of years and I say number one is do it for you and have fun. It will get tiring so quickly if you try to cater too much to your audience. Also, invest in good equipment! I can't even stress that enough because people want to see and hear you well :)
My big piece of advice is get used to talking in front of the camera comfortably and be positive. Everyone loves seeing a positive confident person on camera.

I'm new to YouTube as well. Once you start recording more frequently it gets alot easier and you feel more comfortable in front of the camera. Just be yourself. If you're trying to be someone that you aren't it will definetly show in our vids. Good luck with your channel!!! :-)
