I've been switching off between MAC's mattifying gel and Palladio's herbal face primer. I want to try a new face primer and I've been looking at the Laura Mercier line. What brands do you guys suggest? My skin is slightly sensitive so I want to steer clear of products with silicone, but it seems like it's pretty standard in most face primers.

I love the Laura Mercie face primer. I think it's light enough but still primes your face for foundation :) I think especially since your skin is sensitive, it would be great for you. The only other one I think would be good to try is MUFE HD Face Primer. That's good too!

I really love Benefit Porefessional primer. I have sensitive skin also, and didn't have any issues with it. Loved how it made my skin look!

Smashbox Photo Ready Face Primer. I know it's pretty expensive, but you get so much product and your makeup will not go anywhere.

I have been using MAC's prep & prime for years and love it! however, i have been using the MUF HD primer and it works like a charm. I have also used the laura gellar (was too greasy for me) and smashbox photo ready (which is like souffle on your face) .... hoep u find one you love :)

Big fan of MUFE HD primer! If you don't like the silicone-y feel of Smashbox's, you'll def. like MUFE's! It has a lotion/moisturizer consistency and comes in diffeferent color corrector shades as well. =)

I think mine has to be a tie between MAC Prep + Prime Skin and the Laura Mercier Oil Free primer. Both are fantastic!

Korres has great primers (I love the oak anti-aging line [it is also silicone free!]) and I have been loving the Nars sample of the pro prime pore refining primer (which is a gel that I think DOES contain silicone). It is fantastic!

Phillips Milk of Magnesia (liquid), I know it sounds crazy! Using a laxative as a mattefying primer? But it works! It keeps my skin oil free and my makeup in place so much longer than regular primers. I looked into and the only side effect i could find was if you have normal to dry skin it will dry your skin out a lot but if you have really oily skin as i do it works wonders. Plus the price 5$ will last you a lifetime... or until the expiration date

@Amelia Smashbox is awesome! I got a Smashbox Primer Wardrobe from Ulta a while ago that came w/a .5 oz foundation primer, .5 ml eye primer, and .10 oz targeted pore and line primer for $16. I think I got it about 2 months ago and have barely dented it. A little goes a long way.

Have you heard about Monistat Anti-Chaffing Gel as a Faceprimer? I have been using it for awhile now and I LOVE it! I doesn't make me breakout at all! :) It works great, I will NEVER spend tons of money on a face primer!

I love the Studio gear Prime Objective face primer. It leaves my skin feeling perfect--not too slick or powdery. Just a really natural, wonderful texture to the skin that not only makes foundation glide on but lasts and lasts and lasts.

@ Mandy K, I have read the article and where as it is well written, I I have done my own research. As with anything buyer be wear don't take one persons opinion, research things for yourself.
Philips Milk of Magnesia’s main active ingredient is Magnesium Hydroxide. "Magnesium hydroxide is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula Mg(OH)2. As a suspension in water, it is often called milk of magnesia because of its milk-like appearance." Magnesium hydroxide is a compound that comes from the chemical element Magnesium. Magnesium is a mineral that is present in relatively large amounts in the body. Researchers estimate that the average person’s body contains about 25 grams of magnesium. Magnesium ions are essential to the basic nucleic acid chemistry of life, and thus are essential to all cells of all known living organisms.
Magnesium is also used as an antiseptic. Antiseptics kill bacteria i.e. diminishing breakouts.
I have also searched through the ingredient lists of many mattifying primers and there are quite a few that contain Magnesium Sulfate, also a compound of magnesium.
If the ingredients in Philips Milk Of Magnesia are so bad for the skin then why do cosmetic companies put them into primers, further more magnesium is so bad for the skin then why is it vital to life?

I absolutely love Laura Mercier's Primer! I love that there's 3 different formula for different skin types!

I use Make Up Forever HD primer because I use their foundation -- but if I were switching it up between all sorts of foundations (Mac, Drugstore, Smashbox, Kat Von D...) I'd go with Smashbox! Or even if I weren't using foundation and just a powder finish, totally Smashbox.
- consistency of the product is excellent vs MUF Primer dries quickly and peels if it's on too thick
- special shine + removes redness and discoloration
i dig it!

I love it sooo much! And more importantly it doesn't break me out and it's oil free.
Its kinda pricy, but its totally worth it! I used to use the Smashbox primer, but my face was all red and ichy after i used it plus i did break out from it! i know that alot of people love it,but i have a really sensitive skin and it didnt work for me. Just sayin since so many here reccomend it:)
