ok, I feel like I should give a little background. In high school I started breaking out really bad, but not the deep, cystic type of acne but small bumps all over my forehead. So I started using Proactiv and it worked wonders. Also, I had been on birth control since I was 12. So recently I wanted to stop the Proactiv and try something more natural so I got a Juice Beauty trial set and it seemed to maintain my skin for a while and then it went back to being super oily and I got the little bumps just like I did in high school. So I went back to Proactiv. Now 2 months ago I stopped taking birth control because I figured I don't need all those hormones in my body since I've been on it for 10 years, and now my skin is not so great again. It's very oily and I always have at least 2 big zits. I don't have the weird little bumps on my forehead though.

I know that was a lot to process, and if you actually read all of it I appreciate it lol. If anyone has any ideas for me that would be great. The Proactiv isn't doing the trick anymore since I quit birth control. And I only drink water (and lots of it) and I eat pretty healthy. I've heard being in the sun for a while can help too but so far it doesn't seem to be working.

Help! :(

I use the pill to regulate my ance too. In high school my face was literally covered in every type of blemish. I used every product under the sun (including Accutane) and nothing touched it. The only thing that keeps it at bay has been simply getting older (hormones changed) and the Pill.

I'd just go back on the birth control unless a doctor directed you to stop. According to my doc there's nothing wrong with being on it for prolonged periods. Sounds like your acne might be mostly linked to your hormones so over the counter treatments won't really help. If you really don't want to go back on the Pill you could try the usual drugstore/home remedy stuff: products with salycilic acids, benzoyl peroxide or willow bark/tea tree oil extracts or enzyme based products to help exfoliate (like papaya).

I'd leave the sun out of the equation... it DOES help (I read because it kills the bacteria on the skin) but it's only temporary and the long term result is sun spots and wrinkles. Me thinks not- I'll take a few pimples over sun damage any day.

Thanks Angela. It probably is my hormones but I want to stay off the pill anyway. I just ordered Nature's Cure Papaya kit so we'll see how that works out!

I tried that one. It didn't do anything for me but it smells nice. Good luck!
