Drink water. Drink water. Drink water. Drink water! :) At least a bottle a day. I've been doing that and soo far soo much better! :)

I love Nutrogena product, most of them work for me, My favorite in the advanced solution. It cleared my skin ( for the most part) in almost a week :D

Good healthy diet and water! Cleanse, exfoliate, tone, moist daily! and always wash off your makeup before bed.

hmm i use basically all lush products. i take off my eye make up with 9 to 5, my face make up with aqua marina, my toner is eau roma water and then i use enchanted eye cream on my eye area and grease lightening on my face. i'm getting less and less break outs and my skin isn't getting as red anymore either in the heat. it's softer too. i think its the natural bits and pieces that make up lush products that are giving me such awesome results!

breanna- awee thank you. all you ladies are stunning! i think i do need to drink more water. i've been eating really badly lately. that's probably a good reason why i've been breaking out :(

Hey Megan,

As someone who has pretty much for the most part always had clear skin (what a blessing!) I am going to tell you what I have done:

1. Eat a well balanced meal, you don't have to be a health freak, just make sure you are getting all of your food groups in there.
2. Drink water as stated above :) (this rids skin of many toxins!)
3. I exfoliate weekly. There are many great homemade exfoliating scrubs etc.
4. Remove makeup every night and wash your face twice a day (evening and morning)
5. Moisturize properly (taking into consideration your skin type)

**on the occasion that I do get a breakout, and lets face it, Im human so I do!, I am sure to just stick to my normal skin care routine and just work around it. DO NOT pick at your skin under any circumstance, it can leave you with nasty scars :(

Although everyone's skin is different, these are pretty general steps that I think would work positively for anyones skin :) Hope you found this helpful.

If you are suffering from breakouts there are two over-the-counter ingredients that can help, however most of the products that contain these ingredients cause irritation to the skin which is often not felt. Irritation can cause breakouts by triggering oil production and breaking down the skin barrier that prevents acne causing bacteria from entering. In addition irritation breaks down elasticity in skin and inhibits the skin's ability to heal (premature aging).

The two ingredients that can help:

Salicylic acid in concentrations of 1%-2%: Salicylic acid is an exfoliant that can penetrate oil so it can go into the pore to exfoliate the pore lining.

Benzoyl Peroxide in concentrations of 2.5%-10% (5% is usually best): Benzoyl Peroxide turns into benzoic acid when it is absorbed into the skin and fights acne causing bacteria.

Many Salicylic Acid products are toners that contain irritants. These accompanying irritating ingredients can be, but are not limited to: Alcohol (in all forms ex: SD Alcohol), witch hazel, any fragrant plant extract or oil, any fragrant ingredient, and more.

A lot of Benzoyl Peroxide products are wash off products. If you want the BP to be effective it must be left on the skin in a cream-like medium.

Hope this helps a bit!

I always use extra virgin olive oil to remove my eye makeup... it's cheap, easy, and gentle on my eyes. But I wouldn't recommend it for your whole face!

Here one of a beauties' blog (Soma S.).

Her story is so similar to mine! Suffered from break outs -- with some cystic acne, I tried to cover mines with make up (A BIG NO NO).

Anyway, here is her story: http://www.kabukivoodoo.com/2011/07/skin-care-cerave-must-have-staple-in-my.html

Since this does not have any acne fighting ingredients, I do use prescription Differin and Duac.

And every since then, my face cleared up tremendously. I do also exfoliate (sp?) couple times a week...

I use clean and clear's oil free makeup remover. It gets everything off really easily. Then I wash my face with neutrogena's oil free acne clearing face wash (it's a cream so it won't dry out my face). Sometimes I tone my face with neutrogena's alcohol free toner and then I use aveeno's daily moisturizing lotion to moisturize. I don't do this everyday but when I do I have nice clear skin.
