I am going to be doing a lot of makeup for a high school production. I want to know how I can sanitize my brushes between girls. I will be doing about 20 girls in a very short amount of time. I know alcohol will sanitize lipsticks quickly, but will a spray alcohol work for brushes? It just seems like a spray will not do enough. I do not have many brushes to work with and I want to do it in as sanitary way as possible. Suggestions?

Spraying alcohol on your brushes will indeed sanitize them quickly. A lot of makeup counters use alcohol to sanitize their brushes. Just make sure you spray them and quickly swipe them across a hand towel or something to get the color off the brushes.

MAC's brush cleaner is great. I just use a spray nozzle to spray them down and wipe clean in between people.

Spehora's brush cleaner contains i believe 68% alcohol. You can just spray them between girls and wipe them off to disinfect and remove make up. Make sure to condition your brushes when you get home after.

MAC brush cleanser doesn't contain any sanitizing agents...it's good for spot cleaning your own personal brushes, but i wouldn't use it to sanitize brushes for clients...and most bacteria is killed at at LEAST 70% alcohol. so if sephora's cleaner has less than that, i wouldn't use it. Wayne Goss has a better method IMO. you can dip eye and lip brushes directly into the alcohol because they will dry super quickly...and you want to make sure that ALLLLLLL of the bacteria is killed because the eyes and mouth areas carry so many nasty things...with face brushes will take longer to dry, but the face itself wont harbor as many bacteria, so you can just spray them with alcohol and wipe off all of the color...that way they won't take forever to dry because they aren't soaking wet. here's a link to wayne's video showing this method:
