make sure you are either using tape or vaseline on your finger before you dip it in the water...after you're done you can either wipe off the vaseline or remove the tape and you won't have polish on your finger...also, try painting your nail with a base color (try the lightest color you are using) before you dip it. that way the design will have something to stick to. and there is no reason to leave your finger in for 10 seconds. you can start removing the extra polish in your bowl as soon as you dip your finger in.

wow, i tried this too and it was impossible. i had no idea the texture of the nail polish would change like that and the thought of doing ten nails and 5 with my left hand was frightening so I gave up. Plus I would use a disposable bowl. I used one of mine and even the dishwasher couldn't get rid of bits of polish stuck to the sides hahaha

you can speed up the process by doing 2 or 3 nails at once...just use more polish to make the pattern bigger in the bowl...wide enough to fit as many fingers as you want. and you're right, Lauren...not all polishes work. i've had terrible luck with china glaze. but i've never had a problem with opi. you have to just test them out. also make sure your water is ROOM TEMPERATURE. if it's even a little too cold, the polish won't separate.

The one thing that helps me was turning the fan off. Silly sounding, I know, but the breeze from the fan was drying the polish really fast.
