Hey girl! I'm starting college as a freshman in a few weeks too! Anyways, I'm probably going to do loose curls, neutral makeup, and wear jean shorts and a t-shirt. Nothing too over the top. :) I don't want to look like I just rolled out of bed because that's not a good first impression and I also don't want to look too wild and crazy. :)

I would definitely do a more neutral look! It really all depends on your personality too. How do you wear your makeup when you go out? I am a believer in less is more but like I said, it all depends on you! :)

Honestly? Whatever shows off your personality. Wear what you feel like. It's what I've always done. If you feel like dramatic fits you better, go for it. I wouldn't go out of my way to wear something I wouldn't generally wear just because it's my first day...

i agree - be yourself. also, something to keep in mind is that it is so hot outside right now and you don't want to be hiking all about campus with melting makeup. i went to college in southern georgia and the heat was awful. just something to keep in mind. i would keep the makeup fairly simple and waterproof for that reason. once you get a look at the other girls on campus, you'll have an idea of what to wear. for example, when i was in college (2000-2004), the big thing was to wear sofee shorts and college shirts. Now, i'm back in school for my second degree and i notice the girls at the college i go to now tend to either be really trendy or very casual.
Have fun and good luck!

I go to university and I wear what I like.Makeup wise I have gone with purple lips before but that's me. Fashion wise I wear whatever I feel like that day. Most girls wear neutral to no makeup and don't dress up overly for class so jeans and a cool top and you'll blend in. Personally I feel that coming to school in the pajama pants/sweat pants and UGGs look is kind of disrespectful to the prof. I mean he or she is someone you want to learn from you don't want to disrespect their class. Basically wear what you like there is no dress code like in high school and college is a learning experience in every area of your life. Have a blast at your first day!

I think the most important thing is to show up for your classes...lol...am I being old fashion?

I would go neutral and just enough to highlight your natural beauty - it's the first few days of school... and as much as I would love to promote individuality, it's not always good to stick out like a sore thumb when professors are just getting to know you. I made that mistake one year I walked into class with pink hair and dark smoky makeup... I got picked on by the instructor all year long, and each time he called on me, he called me "Pinky". =(

I remember my first day! I wore jeans and a cute top, and my normal makeup. You always want your first impression to be an accurate representation of you--so if you rock neon yellow glitter daily, you should probably wear your neon yellow glitter. If you're a natural beauty, run with it. On the first day there's so much to remember and so many people to meet--the last thing you should have to worry about when you're trying to find your classes is if your falsies are still on straight, amirite?

If you want your professors to take you seriously, tone it down.

I would say neutral girl! Nothing is more beautiful then a dewy, subtle, and glowy face! If you just enhance your eye features with creamy eye shadows, MAYBE some eye liner, and mascara you should be set! Then top it off with a neutral blush and lip gloss. :)

Haha... HECK YEAH it bothered me, Mandy! I haven't done the crazy hair stuff in a long time ever since. Still tempted to have my last hurrah with crazy hair before I finally make my peace with having to be an adult though... =P

I would just do something natural honestly because most people will probably be wearing sweat like clothing and you don't want to stand out too much.

I agree with Mandy- wear a look that you usually wear, something that makes you feel comfortable. And if you have a couple classes in a row, make sure it's something that you can easily touch up. Unlike high school, you have to go outside and walk in between classes and the heat makes the corners of my eyes water like crazy.
And it sounds vain, but I would check out a mirror before heading into the classroom. Starting college is exciting and nerve-wracking, you don't want a nervous tick like touching your face to leave some crazy mark for the whole day!

Hello Indya!
College isn't about being showy, luckily. For the first day, you want to impress your teachers AND impress your peers.
I would go with neutral tones or a soft pink or purple. Depending on your outfit! The first day of my first college class two years ago, I wore heels, a nice pair of jeans, and a blouse. I would put more time into your hair, maybe curl it? Or a casual updo, but keep your makeup simple and clean.
If you want, you can send me pictures of possible pieces and I can help you put something together!
Warm Regards,
Parris

I am all for showing your personality through your makeup and clothing, but you must be aware that you will be out of place. This is at least the way it is at my university, a sea of girls in messy buns, ugh boots, north-faces, and leggings.
I feel far to dressed up compared to everyone when I even wear shadow and liner. I'm sure other universities are different but this is the way it is where I am.
I wish you luck on your first year and I hope you have a great experience :D

In my experience people in college go for kinda the "i dont give a shit look" basically jeans, college sweats, and victorias secret PINK clothing. I tend to wear a little bit of eyeshadow, eye liner and mascara and that is MORE than the average person. If you want to wear a lot of makeup I say go for it, but it might look wayyy out of place in the swarm of ugg boots and sweats!
