Estee Lauder's Double Wear is amazing! I have very oily skin, and it never looks cakey, and it really does last all day.

The "best foundation ever" is going to be the one that works best for you and your skintype. What may work "best" for someone else may not work for you, and vice versa. You may have to try multiple foundations before you find "the one". Every person is different.

chanel vitalumiere aqua! i love it because it is water based and really makes my skin look healthy without being oily.
as soon as Im finished with it tho im plan on trying the nars sheer matte foundation or the laura mercier... cant decide tho!!
all of these are in the $40 price range which is a lot, but from what ive heard and my personal experience they are worth it! my skin is the most important part of my makeup routine for me so it's the one thing im willing to splurge on :)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Revlon Colorstay! I have tried many foundations and keep coming back to this one. I have even discontinued using my MUFE HD because I find that the Revlon gives me more of a dewy finish which I love. The only downfall of this foundation is that it is thick. However, if you find it is too thick for your liking but still like the coverage I would suggest thinning it out with a wet cosmetic sponge after applying.
Hope this helps a bit :)

Smashbox is my favorite at the moment. I love MUFE's primer, but was very disappointed in the results of the foundation. For lasting power, I use UD's makeup setting spray in De-Slick.
