Have you seen the buzz about Bath & Bod Works all over NY Times, social media networks, etc.? Here's a rundown on what they're saying, what the FDA has to say, and things you should consider before forming an opinion: http://makeupchicliterarygeek.blogspot.com/2011/07/bath-body-works-in-news.html

"Manufacturers use triclosan in:
Antibacterial soaps
Hand sanitizers
Deodorants
Toothpastes
Acne fighting products
Mouthwash
Athletic clothing
Bedding
Socks
Cleaning supplies
Toys
Trash bags"
I've been using all of this stuff my whole life and I'm healthy and happy. :) I think people make too big of a deal about things like this. Seems like everything is dangerous/causes cancer these days.

I agree with Erica, but I've also been brought up on avoiding using antibacterial soaps too much. I've actually read things that say in the end there isn't much of a difference because they both have some negative side that cancels the other out and antibacterial soap just makes my hands dryer.

I definitely think everyone should make their own decision. I personally consistently choose to avoid excessive chemicals for my own reasons, but I do this regardless of crazy media hype in either direction (and as we all know it goes both ways haha). I think the biggest indicator in the FDA piece for me is the fact that antibacterial soap with triclosan is no better at fighting bacteria than REGULAR soap and water. For me, if there's no added benefit I see no reason for it. But again, everyone should absolutely form their own opinion. After all, we're the only ones that have to deal with our decisions when it comes to things like this :)
