SPERM EYEBROWS...ahhhhhhh

@ April I completely agree with the dirty hipster look! Here in the SF bay area a lot of young kids are dressing like that! It's never cool to choose to like you have bad hygene.

My biggest pet peeve at the moment are people wearing rosary beads as fashionable jewelry. I was raised Catholic and although I do not practice Catholicism anymore, its just weird seeing people meaninglessly wearing something that a lot of people use to pray to with. I feel like all religions should be honored and respected and not turned into fashion statements.

Again, the over tanned look. Don't get me wrong, in the summer I like being a natural gold-bronze ( thank you sunless tanner!) but only when I am going to be in a bikini! I love being pale in the winter and playing around with colors! There is nothing wrong with being pale! And again, ORANGE is never in!

I, too, am also over the leggings fad. It's too cold in my area for them right now anyways!

Jizz Lips! Ewww! Don't get me wrong, I love a nude lip, but one that makes you look sick and adding a massive amount of lip gloss doesn't help DX

Instead of 'dirty' hipster... I'll just say hipster in general. BE GONE!

Out with hipsters! ugh.
Girls at my school always wear leggings as pants. since some don't think they're tight enough STILL, they wear surfing suit bottoms to school. yeah, a wetsuit. to school.
This one isn't a fad, I hope, but girls at my school with the absolute WRONG foundation shade... and don't have the courtesy to at least blend it into their neck. Nope, just a straight line at their jaw. ORANGE.
I also don't like the corset for shirts fad.. I think corsets are very cute, but in my opinion, it looks like everyone is wearing lingerie. Might be okay to wear outside of school, for a night occasion.. but in school? why do you need your boobs pushed up that extreme.
also, obvious showing bras. girls like to wear backless shirts to school and pair it with a regular ol' bra. sometimes so dirty their bra looks like it was thrown in dirt. LOL!
and for boys.. hm. I don't get it, why do they leave the stickers on their hats? are they so fre$h that they don't take tags off of their clothes either?

I still see people w/ rock solid, overly hairsprayed bangs...

I'm really over critical when it comes to eyeshadow and women... it seems like no one knows that eyeshadow is supposed to be blended. My cashier at Victoria's Secret today was wearing bright blue eye shadow on the inner half of her eyes, and matte black on the outer half.. there was no buffer zone, just a straight line of color.. it made her look like an alien. I hate to act like I'm so great at make up, because I'm not.. I just hate that unblended eyeshadow look though.. everyone does it. I did go to Sephora after.. all the women looked *heavenly*!!! I wanted to complement them all!

@Sierra I know what you mean, another thing that I can't stand, seeing a beauty with 5 pounds of blush. Dx

Raccoon eyeliner or eyeshadow---basically not blending. Go away.
What I wish would come back?...*whispers* Hair Scrunchies...lol

Go away: Drawn on brows, ombre hair, pointy nails.
Come back and STAY: natural skin and hair.

I contacted peta with my concern about feathers being used in the fashion industry and this was their response. further evidence as to why feathers need to go out of style.

Thank you for contacting PETA about feathers and sharing your campaign ideas.

Most of the feathers that humans use come from chickens, turkeys, and geese who are raised for food. Most of these birds are kept in filthy, cramped cages or warehouses, where they are given barely enough room to move. For more information about the poultry industry, please see http://www.PETA.org/issues/Animals-Used-for-Food/poultry-and-eggs-industries-that-abuse-chickens.aspx.

Sometimes, these birds’ feathers are dyed or painted to look like feathers from more “exotic” birds. Feathers described as “marabou” refer to feathers that are fluffy like those from the undertail of marabou birds, but they almost always come from turkeys and chickens. Turkey feathers are used for feather dusters and for arrows in archery. Feathers used in costuming mostly come from pheasants, peacocks, and ostriches.

Feathers used for hair extensions and fly fishing lures come from chickens who are raised and killed specifically for the feathers. You can read more about the feather hair extension fad at http://www.PETA.org/living/fashion/feather-hair-extensions-a-trend-worth-killing-for.aspx.

Down feathers are usually plucked from live birds (http://www.PETA.org/b/thepetafiles/archive/2010/05/03/The-Really-LowDown.aspx). Multiple times in their lives, geese are held down by workers who tear out the softest feathers, or down, a process so painful that it’s outlawed in Western European countries. Just before slaughter, the geese are put into a machine that rips their longest feathers from their bodies, after which they are killed.

Ostriches and emus are both clipped and plucked for their feathers. Typically, they are immobilized—but not stunned—with painful electric shocks to their heads, after which their feathers are torn out of their bodies by hand; sometimes, they are “de-toed” so that they can’t defend themselves while being restrained. Then they are slaughtered.

We hope you will take a stand against the cruel treatment of birds by not buying any items that include real feathers. For our guide to compassionate clothing, please see http://www.PETA.org/living/fashion/cruelty-free-Clothing-guide.aspx. To learn more about feathers and down, please see our factsheet at http://www.PETA.org/issues/Animals-Used-for-Clothing/down-and-silk-birds-and-insects-exploited-for-fabric.aspx.

It annoys me when people have a really obvious foundation line along their jaw, so their face is a totally different colour to their neck. Find the correct shade for your skin and that line will disappear! Not really a 'fad' but I see it so often it makes me wonder if some people think that's how it's supposed to look!

Completely agree with so many of these!

Hipsters - go away!
Jizz lips - You really wanna look like someone blew all over your lips, seriously? Ew, take it off! I'm all for nude, but lighter than your skin tone and going on bright white is WRONG.
Orange skin - WTF? Why do people want to look like Oompa Loompas? I seriously do not understand this. Orange does not make you look "beautiful" or "exotic". Those who use fake bake and don't get it even - ugh! STOP! If you can't do it properly yourself, get a professional to do it!
Foundation line - Why is this so hard for some girls? If the foundation doesn't 100% match and you can't find one that does, for the love of jeebus PLEASE blend it! The scary thing about this is I take a beauty course in college and some of the girls actually come in like this! Argh, stop! Please!
As for leggings - I agree to a certain extent. I LOVE my leggings, I live in them I admit. However, I don't buy leggings that can be seen through. If you can see your underwear or your butt, there is an issue. Get some better, thicker ones so we don't have to see it!
All sorts of hair extensions - I'm sorry, I'm not a fan. Unless they're done professionally, I find that a lot of girls have horrible ones where you can see they really are fake. I don't like this feather hair extension, or this tinsel hair extension fad either.
Lastly: PULL YOUR PANTS UP. If I wanted to see your underpants I'd ask to! What is with people that they seem to think everyone wants to see their underpants/ass?

Apologies for ranting.. didn't realise how much this stuff bothered me until I typed it out, lol.

I'd love short bobs like the 20s to come back! I'd also love the grungey 'kinder-whore' look from the 90s to come back! Excessive makeup, baby doll dresses- IE Courtney Love..

Tanning go away! I'm so tired of being called a vampire because I'm pale with black hair. Luckily, now that I'm in Thailand, light skin is in! :)

I totally agree with the Jeffrey Campbell's BLAH
AND the not showering look..I'm cool with natural stuff but sometimes there's a line and people go too natural.. some people just need to reel that in a little.. or a lot.

Finally I am feeling some love for being pale! Maybe we should all hang out?  LOL

I wish brown lipsticks would come back in style

The oompa loompa look needs to be left to the movie.

But as for everyone wanting certian things to come back or wishing things would be in style...

It has to start somewhere, might as well start with you. If you like classic 20's makeup..wear it! Do tutorials on how to apply it...like brown lipsticks? Wear it!! We have gotten into this train of thought that if it isn't in fashion mags etc then it isn't ok.
We all need to stop waiting for others to tell us what is in trend, and become our own trend.
Not saying we can't enjoy trends, but we shouldn't rely solely on them.

Jan 15, 2012

Caitlin M.

Heather I completely agree.

I've actually never followed trends, I don't think. I've always worn and done my makeup how I like it. If someone doesn't like it, that's not my problem. I also can't afford to be a slave to "fashion". Things come and go so quickly I don't see the point.

PALE SKIN. I want that to be back so bad! I want people to quit saying I'm so white.. I haven't been to the tanning bed in two days! It drives me nuts.

Jan 19, 2012

Sarah C.

I don't think it would be very politically correct to make pale skin a fad. I do not think a skin color or hair color should ever be a fad.

Jan 19, 2012

Ashley K.

I'm with you on the Pale skin definitely needs to come back, it gets old hearing Vampire/ghost/dead/zombie jokes every .5 secs from people.
