I'm actually debating whether to get the Naked 2 palette. I love my naked one palette and I love shimmer in my eyeshadows so its perfect for me. I went to sephora yesterday to look at the Naked 2 and it looked very similar to the first one... Should I buy it? Or is their a really great palette you guys can recommend that is a very neutral (I love browns & golds eye shadows)?

Haha... you absolutely do NOT need both! I have both, and the original I gave to the bf's little sister just because I prefer cooler colors that are found in NAKED2.
If you are a neutral aficionado, by all means, go for it! I didn't give away my original one until I was able to play with both side-by-side. You didn't fall in love with it enough in-store to take it home with you the first time though... so save your money if you still have your doubts!

Naked 2, to me, has more taupe colours in it than the original. I own both, and if I didn't, the only one I'd buy would be Naked 2 (although I like both and kind of consider them complementary to each other). So unless you're a neutral girl, you don't really need both.
MAC has some excellent brown eyeshadows; you could make your own palette with what they have available. I also know Too Faced has a neutral palette, as does NYX.

@Soma: Yeah comparing them side by side they seemed so similar. But your totally right I walked out without it so I should go with that instinct...lol
@ Shelly: Yeah I love my neutral colors... I have the too face one which I just gave away to my cousin... so i'm looking for a new neutral palette. Have heard that the NYX is really pretty. They just announced NYX products are coming to bed, bath & beyond so I guess I'll check out their neutral palette... thanks =)

I have both and honestly I am someone who loves neutrals and I do need both. Just because they have different finishes and The NAKED 2 has the cooler Taupey colors where as the NAKED has Deeper browns that I don't always feel like wearing. So I like having them both for what they both bring to my collection. I use them both very often. So it really is personal opinion. I really love having different options and to me I 100% see difference in colors. A lot of other people said the samething about them being very similar but honestly once swatched you can see the differences. They still are in the neutral family but have different hue, undertones etc.

I have neither and am considering buying the first one. Fairly new to makeup do figured it's an essential for my kit. But i know some of the other articles on here say it depends on ur skin tones, if it was me I'd go with whatever one you know will enhance ur skin, not drown u out if the colors are too dark :)

I am a makeup addict, so i bought both. I love both dearly, I love that naked1 has more browns and golds and naked2 is more toupe. I actually prefer naked2 though. If i had to do it all over again and if i knew urban decay would come out with a naked2 pallate, I wouldn't have bought naked1. I just like the toupeyness of naked2 better than the warm tones of naked1.

I love the Naked2 more than my Naked palette. Depends on your skintone and personal preference. I wrote a ton about it here... not trying to spam, haha, just thought it would help!

@Althea: Thanks I check out your blog post... very helpful. I'm still leaning towards not getting the Naked 2. But who knows maybe next time I go into Sephora I'll play around with it & end up falling in love and buying it...lol.

i personally do not have the naked 2 palette and i am in no rush to get it because i find that the color selection from the naked palette 1 works better for me as a whole with my skin tone, and features and everything. they're definitely more warm toned and the naked 2 shades are cool toned. it'd be nice to maybe have it someday but i know that i'm probably not going to get as much use out of it as i have with my other naked palette.

I own the naked one, I've had it pretty much since it came out and honestly have barely touched it. Yet, for whatever reason, I want to buy the naked2. I think it's a clear sign that I have a problem lol
I do definitely think that they are different enough to justify owning both though. The naked palette is much warmer than the naked 2. I think that I like the colors in the naked 2 better, and I love that there is a matte black

If you find MACs carbon to be on the grey side, you won't be so happy with the UD one. The blackest black I've used thus far is Sugarpill's. NAKED2 is def. preferred more for me too, and I really like the tease color even if it is chalky.

awww, really? that's to bad. I mean, I think we all know that UD excels in frosty shadows but I was hoping they could impress me with their mattes too.

This is an awesome post. Sooo very helpful! I don't have either Naked palettes because I'm not big on neutrals (They aren't very vivid on my skin tone) and all of these opinions are great. I've been thinking about going for the Naked 2 since the first got so many great reviews. Now, I'm so happy I didn't buy the first version.

@Nykia H. You're probably a shade or two deeper than me and I was concerned about the shades not showing up on me as well. I have the Naked1 palette and the shades pop against my skintone. I was quite surprised. Just be sure to use a primer if you have oily lids like me and to do your eyes first because there is some fallout. Girl, run don't walk, and get yourself that palette! Trust me you won't be disappointed.
@Maria Y. don't dare step to Amazon trying to find this on the cheap because another girl here on the Beautylish site got duped by a fake. I would just suck it up and stick to getting it from either UD or Sephora. Don't risk your health and wallet on something disguised as "steal".

I just picked the Naked2 pallette at Ulta yesterday. I'm so excited. I've got the original and the 2nd looks beautiful. I do wear a lot of neutral colors so hopefully it will work for me.

@Carly N. It depends on what you personally like. The Naked1 is definitely warmer than the Naked2. Naked1 contains more of bronzy smoky while the second palette seems to be more taupe smoky. From what I can see of your eye color Naked2 should work beautifully.

@Maria... Like Shelly said beware of Amazon because it has been selling fake UD palettes. If you have an Ulta I would suggest getting it there because they always have coupon promotions going on. If I get mine it will be at Sephora because I get Beauty insider points for my purchases.

If you're a neutral eye kind of girl then it's okay to have both in my opinion cause you can never have too many neutrals :) Haha! But if I had to choose one out of the two I would go with Naked2 just cause there's more taupe-y colors that I like and definitely love the packaging way more then the original Naked :)

I have yellow undertones and personally I prefer the Naked palette 1 just because it has much warmer as opposed to the Naked 2 with cooler colors
