There are many oil-free make up primers on the market that would help reduce oil in comparison to primers with oil, but there are also primers with mattifying properties available for people with combo/oily skin. As one of these sad people, I use Benefit'sPorefessional with the aid of Urban Decay's De-slick setting pray before and after makeup. Urban Decay also has a de-slick oil control gel to apply to problem areas before makeup. If you go on Sephora.com and look for the primer/oil control category you'll find some good products there.

I use bare escentials oil control primer and am not happy with it at all! It does not matify or control my oil at all! If you find a good primer, let me know!

I have some really oily skin and like the anti-shine primer from the sephora brand, I cant promise it will work for you of course but it is definitly worth a try. I use it in conjunction with the revlon colorstay for oily skin and i dont apply powder all day. ELF does have a primer but it is seriously oily and when I tryed it I hadnt even had my makeup on for an hour when I looked like I had dunked my head in a vat of cooking oil. Anyways, the anti-shine primer at sephora is that expensive, I payed $16 dollars for mine and I have had it for 2 months. That would be my suggestion.

This is one of my favorites: Cover FX Clearprep FX Matte Foundation Primer And Anti-Acne Treatment

CoverFX products work really well and even though they may cost more than some others, they're worth it!

Smashbox Anti-Shine (actually works great for eye primer also). If it comes down to nothing seriously try Milk of Magnesia, it has mattifying effects because magnesia is a mattifier. Could cause a blemish here and there when first using it but, would you rather have long wearing makeup that doesn't shine or one or two little blemishes that you can cover up? the choice is yours I highly highly suggest it.

I love Clinique Pore Minimizer Instant Perfector (the one that comes in two different shades). It covers large pores and makes the skin look matte for a very long time.

Paula's Choice 'Shine Stopper Instant Matte Finish' is the BEST primer on the planet. Its on sale for 17.56 for 1 fl. oz. Try it!!!

I used to use Smashbox Photofinish Light religiously. But recently I've been using Laura Mercier Oil-Free, and I like it better. While it is $30 USD, you get 1.7 ounces of product, which works out to around $17/ounce.

Smashbox Photofinish is my favourite and I have a very oily t zone, especially forehead.

I love putting a small amount of Murad's Oil Control Mattifier on my t-zone.... it's a friggin miracle cream, I swear!!

Easy way - creme primer = dry skin/normal
serum /gel primer = oily/combination

I've actually been using Cetaphil's Oil Control Moisturizer instead of my usual Mac Primer, and I'm very pleased with it. It makes a smooth base for my makeup, I know it's not clogging my pores, and it moisturizers while controlling oil. Plus you fet 4 fl oz for $10 at Target. :)

I'm a strong believer that there aren't any good inexpensive/drugstore face primers out there...all of the ones I've tried have been horrible. I have super oily skin and the BEST oil controlling primer I've found is the Urban Decay De-Slick. It literally sucks ALL of the oils out of your skin and also prevents your skin from getting oily throughout the day. It is pricey, I believe it's $32...but trust me, if you have super oily skin and nothing seems to work, try this out...you can get a free sample at Sephora before you buy it :) I swear by this stuff, and a tiny bit goes a long way so even though it's expensive, it will last you a LONG time !
