Well this will be my first year to IMATS, YAY so excited, I'm planning on going for 2 days. A little info - I'm fairly new to makeup, have been using only drugstore products and am ready to upgrade to high quality products and buy my first set of brushes. I know I would like to buy my brushes from MAC, but also planning on buying pigments and pressed shadows, foundation, etc. One thing I'm having a hard time deciding is should I buy Pigments or Pressed Shadows? Also I don't know my foundation color for MAC, if I just waited until IMATS would someone at the counter help me find one or is it too chaotic and I should just figure it out before I go? I would love to try any and all products just not sure what's the best as far as quality. So for anyone who has gone, I've seen the line up of exhibitors this year, who are your top exhibitors to visit, and what are your must buy products? Any info would be very helpful, thanks!

I decided it was more worth it to go to LA for a couple of days and really get into the whole experience than it was for me to take the train to New York for two days and know I wasn't going to get to be with people and do everything I wanted to! But I am so excited for MUFE and the discount :) That and sigma because i haven't bought from them in forever

is there any way we can see the discounts online before and which brands will be there?

I don't think you can find the discounts but here's a list of all the brands that will be in LA this year: http://www.imats.net/los/los_exhibitor_list.php

Hi, Harley! (I loved Harley Quinn!)
IMATS used to be a MUA trade show, and only recently has been bombarded by the public. Ts going to be a frenzy, and you won't have much one-on-one time with people at booths VS if you went to explore at a makeup counter in the mall. Test out as many products as you can before the event so you have an organized list of the brands you want to hit up. That will help you maximize your time so ur not standing in line the entire time just to window shop. =]
I'm thinking of going myself, and I know many brands do 20-40% discounts off retail. Plan accordingly, and keep in mind this is a trade show, so you won't be guaranteed much time to have someone's undivided attention since trade shows are aimed at professionals in the industry and it's not customer service oriented. =]

Carolynn C. - I'm going JUST for the MUFE discount! Haha, and to play with more Hakuhodo brushes. =D

I will be at IMAT LA this year since I'll be going as a reporter for MUT. I can't wait to see Rick Baker and Ve Neill. I know Elessa (Pursebuzz) will be there and I talk with her on and off on her wall and on MUT so it'll be nice to meet her. Oh I know Koren will also be there so it'll be nice to meet him. I know Kandee Johnson will be there but I'm not a fan so I won't be going out of my way to meet her. If I bump into her fine but if not no big loss for me.
Lime Crime will be there so I'm looking forward to seeing and testing their products in person. Amy and Sugarpill are making a return so I'm saving my $ for her booth. lol I've printed my floor list and exhibitors list and marking who I want to see.

I am super stoked about the Inglot booth! It was super crowded last year so I am going to make sure that I get their early and check that out first. I hope Sigma Brushes are available for purchase this year as well! I am also going to start making a list of products that I really want to get from the different brands. Can't wait to see all of you Beautylishers there!

I was really stoked about going this year, and then I found out I need a root canal that's going to cost me $1200 and basically wipe out my cash for the next month. Here's hoping there's still tickets when Im done paying for that because I was really looking forward to checking out some Sugar Pill, Sigma, MUFE and Kett cosmetics.
