Helooo :)
Okay, so...first things first! I am absolutely terrible when it comes to my nails. I always tend to get polish on the cuticle but at the bottom and they're always chipping. I'm not too sure what to say, I was just wondering if you had any tips on manicures and painting nails, etcetera. They could do with a tidy up!
Thank you xxxx

If you place the brush of your polish a little further up on the nail and push it towards the bottom of the nail, the brush will fan out and then you pull the brush towards the tip. This helps give you more control and a nicer line at the bottom of the nail, as well as being a lot easier to avoid the cuticle.

Are you using a topcoat? That would definitely help with the chipping. Experiment with different topcoats and base coats to see what works best for you. What might work for me, might not work for you.
As far as the painting of the cuticle, I use a small flat paintbrush, dip it in acetone, and clean up all around the edges of my nail. I'm quite anal about the way my polish looks, and love the little gap between the polish and the cuticle. I have some useful tips in this incredibly long nail post here: http://glitterandunicorns-angiebee.blogspot.com/2012/01/nail-care-angie-edition.html

i usually leave my thumbs until last, so when i get a mistake around the cuticle i can wipe it of with my thumb nail while it is still wet. If it does not come of then use a small thin brush (like a eye liner brush) socked in nail polish remover.

I myself do the same thing that Kate C. does :)

I always start with a base coat, so that the polish stays on better! And as for not getting in the cuticles, I usually put a tiny piece of tape over them so that the polish doesn't bleed onto my skin! Plus, starting at the center of your nail and working your way out is a helpful way to prevent spill! Make sure you add a top coat so that the polish will stay on longer! Also, for some great advice, I went to one of my local Nail salons and asked the ladies there for some tips and tricks! They were very nice and helped me master the arts of nail painting! :)
