Why Does My Face Turn Up White in Photos?

I recently just updated some photos on here and noticed that my face is really white! I didn't put on very much face makeup you can still see my freckles =] I am chalking it up to bad camera/lighting? Anyone else have the answer or solution to stop white ghost face in pictures?

Any foundation the has SPF is going to show up white in photos.

Do you use your cam with flash? That might be the cause. Also, your foundation could have a complexion that tends to reflect a little light, to make the skin look brighter.

SPF under your makeup or in your foundation will cause your face to appear white in photos with a flash. I try to wear SPF everyday unless I know I will be in photos. Hope this helps!!! :)

SPF causes the light to reflect from the face (protecting it), causing the applied area to turn white! At night, avoid using SPF products especially when using flash photography! SPF is highly recommended, but avoid, using little to none if you think you'll be using flash in a camera that day.

Thank you everyone!

I didn't have my phones camera on flash but I did have on SPF 50 as well as MAC studio finish powder. I am 100% positive that it was the sunscreen! Now I know how to avoid this next time I take a picture!

Great tip, Ashleigh! Ya learn somethin' new everyday! I forgot all about the no SPF at night rule!

Foundation with high SPF will make your face white in pictures. If you're going to be taking pictures, avoid foundations with a SPF of 10 or more.

if you know you're going to be photographed, use a foundation that doesn't contain SPF....also when you're setting your concealer, be careful when using powders that contain Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide or Zinc Oxide as the reflect light and will cause you to have a white patch of powder wherever you applied it. use a loose powder similiar to your skin tone for the most natural finish.
