Like Birchbox, Eco-Emi is a monthly subscription and costs $15 per month. Unlike Birchbox you get a set date to pay for your subscription which can be the downside to Eco-Emi depending on the day you subscribe. I subscribed on July 11 which became the date I pay for my boxes and it still irks me since I paid for September's box before even getting August's and for October's before getting September's however the products have been worth it, so far.
My Eco-Emi box for September came today and it's a love-hate with this month's contents. If you would like to see what I got in my first (August) Eco-Emi box then you can read about that here.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE everything that came including the two items that I *hate*. The only reason I *hate* these two items is because it makes me HUNGRY! I want a caramel apple now or a salt caramel apple cupcake. It'd almost evil for Eco-Emi to be sending out products that smell that good. I'm wearing the lip balm right now and all I can think about are caramel apples and cupcakes. *tummy rumbles*
Fair warning to those who get Eco-Emi boxes, make sure you eat something sweet and yummy before opening this box otherwise I'm not responsible for any tummy rumblings! LOL
Food/Edible
Vegetable shell pasta by Eden Organic
12 oz $3.14
I can't wait to try this pasta. I love pasta but if you have Celiac Disease or any type of intolerance to wheat products I suggest avoiding this since it does contain wheat products.
100% Pure Raw Unprocessed Honey by Honey Pax
$19.95 for 20 individual packs
I LOVE raw honey, absolutely LOVE it. It's like candy to me so I'm VERY excite to try this with the tea that I also received in this month's box.
Tip: You can use raw, unpasteurized honey as an antiseptic on acne or small cuts. Leave on for a few minutes before wiping or washing off.
Organic tea by Mighty Leaf Tea Co.
Price varies
Organic Breakfast $9.95 4 oz
Organic African Nectar $10.95 4 oz
Organic Spring Jasmine $11.95 4 oz
I'm a tea drinker (as well as a Pepsiholic). I love teas. I drink Oolong, peppermint, chocolate mint, spearmint, apple cinnamon, lemon, Jasmine, green tea, white tea, black tea, Earl Grey, ginger, ginger mint, ginger lemon, (okay any type of ginger tea), etc, etc. I have yet to meet a tea I didn't like... No, wait I take that back... hated apricot cinnamon WAY too sweet for me. Needless to say I'm brewing the Jasmine tea now and will be using it with the honey (see above). Yum!
Minteas in "Retreat" by Tea Forte
$2.99 1 oz
These are so cute! Shaped like little leafs and so tasty with lemongrass, Chamomile and white tea. I need to make sure to hide these babies from my kids.
Beauty
Organic Milk and Oat Bath by Aura Cacia
$2.63 1.75 oz
I'm not into baths. Can't stand baths really since it really grosses me out no matter how much bleach and other bathroom cleaners I use. It's the drain that grosses me out. Yuk. Yes, I'm weird like that but honestly if you think about it you'd be grossed out too.
Since I'm not a bathtub person I'll be giving this to my daughter who is a bath baby. She LOVES baths and can fall asleep in the tub (and has) so I know she'll love this.
Organic perfume in "Enchant" by Lauren Brooke Cosmetiques
$10
Since it's an oil it will last longer on your skin than normal perfume and there is the chance it will stain so I would suggest applying right after a bath/shower. I couldn't get the bottle open on the video without risking spilling the oil every where but I did get the chance to smell it and it's fantastic. It reminds me pumpkin pie spices since it contains allspice and nutmeg, cinnamon and cassia infused with vanilla.
The downside to this, I should have ate first because between that and the lip products (see below) my stomach is very angry at me right now and is now demanding a caramel apple or a salted caramel apple cupcake from a local bakery.
Organic eye shadow in Sandalwood by Lauren Brooke Cosmetiques
$8 1.5 gram jar
Unfortunately for me while I think the color is fantastic I probably won't be trying this since it does contain olive, Neem and raspberry extracts and I'm allergic to raspberries. :( My daughter has no such allergy so she'll definitely enjoy this.
I do have to state that this item along with the perfume are tiny samples. VERY TINY. I know I complained about the Jouer lip conditioner in the September Birchbox and these were just as tiny. The shadow is about the size of a quarter (I should have taken a picture next to a quarter) and as thick as maybe three quarters. It's plenty though to try a couple of times or if like me give away to a friend or family member. Wish it didn't have the raspberry in it but oh well, can't complain too much not with the two lip products that were sent out.
Organic lip balm by Bubble and Bee
$3.99 0.15 oz
So this is one of the two items that I *hate*. Oh the product feels great and smells great, no scratch that, smells delicious but that's the problem. It's smells DELICIOUS. TOO delicious. My poor tummy was unprepared by how delicious this smells, like caramel apples or a salted caramel apple cupcake (which I had on Saturday). *tummy grumbles* Do not open and smell, much less use this lip balm on an empty stomach or if you have a craving for something sweet. It's THAT yummy smelling.
On the upside, if you're inclined to torture your loved ones put this one and go kiss them. ;) Unless they hate the smell of apples or caramel apples this is one lip balm that may have them wondering where the smell of apples is coming from. lol
Now where is my cupcake? *sending the hubby to the bakery*
Organic Kisses Lip Gloss by Juice Beauty
$15 one full size gloss 0.28 oz
$16.50 set of four travel size glosses 0.03 oz
After smelling the lip balm from Bubble and Company I wasn't prepared for another delicious smelling lip gloss. It has berries and sweet agave in it and like with the lip balm I'm kicking myself for not having had something to eat before opening this box. It smells that good to me. Between this lip gloss and the lip balm I'm going to have to hide some products from my daughters this month otherwise I'll never be able to use it. Then again, considering the distance to my favorite bakery it might be a good thing if my girls take these two items. lol
