I'm looking for a sheer to moderate coverage foundation, but also something that will hide my blemishes. I hate caking on makeup to cover my imperfections! What do you suggest?

There's a lot of good ones- Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation is good. It's pretty lightweight. A heavier coverage one that works for me is MAC (they have the BEST concealer too). Dermablend has a full coverage formula that covers everything and anything but that's pretty heavy stuff.

Clinique is an amazing brand for what you want. They have tons of sheer/moderate coverage foundations that are good for the skin. I use Superbalanced which is moderate coverage, but covers imperfections and it controls oil in oily areas and hydrates any dry areas. But they have tons, if you look on their website you can do a quiz for what you want and they'll show you your match.

I would suggest the Clinique acne solutions foundation. I bought mine at around $25. It gives a good coverage for the amount you put on and keeps a matte finish very well. It also has salicylic acid which can help your acne as you wear it.
Being a moderate to severe acne sufferer myself, I would suggest mineral makeup or department store foundations. Drugstore liquid foundations have done more harm than good for me.

Thanks for the feedback! I actually work for Clinique and have the Acne Solutions foundation. I still feel like I look oily throughout the day. I think my best bet is the mineral foundation. I used to use Bare Minerals and I never broke out. Once I started wearing liquid, I've always had breakouts. I'm thinking that I have really sensitive skin so I break out easily. Im going to try bare minerals again! What other mineral foundations are good and relatively inexpensive? I do not like any drugstore ones, they're chalky.

That helped SO much, thank you! I love how hey let you order samples, that's so awesome. I'll definitely check that out! And it seems way more affordable than B.M. and more bang for your buck! Thanks again. :)

I used to have acne too and have the scars left over from it. I still occasionally get bad skin and so always need to cover up. One foundation I swear by is Bella Pierre Mineral foundation, but I know it costs a lot. Ive also read that mica's can aggrevate acne (and this product contains it) but I've always found my skin loves wearing it. This does contain Micas, but for some reason I feel like this foundation makes my skin better not worse.
I HAVE found my skin definately doesn't like high street versions of mineral foundation, and it's a bit tempermental with the brand Bare Minerals. For some reason Bella Pierre is the only one I've tried that it gets on with, and it covers up all my red scars and blemishes AMAZINGLY. If you ARE considering trying it, try and find where they sell it so they can test some on you as its a lot of money to spend on something that might not work for you.
I haven't tried meow cosmetics so that looks like a good brand to try first. Let me know how it works for you, I may be interested in getting some too! would save me so much money! Good luck

Hi Samantha! I totally agree with Mandy's break down on the acne problems.
Foundation does just smother your skin and causes dirt and oil to build up and causes major acne issues. I am partners with the creators of Proactiv acne line. We are launching their new product lines so Please ask me any skin care questions. I have the Dermatologists on Speed Dial! lol If you don't mind let me know if you have small pores, etc. We have a great Mineral Powder with Peptides and is also not too expensive for what it does. It decreases redness and has the Peptides to calm skin and deflect any harsh radicals. Also key is to avoid tanning your acne area. This only cakes up the oils and dirt and never lets the skin breathe :)
Take a few minutes and go to the solutions tool-it helps. I always give my peeps a great discount. We have to stick together for great skin!!

I've tried mineral foundation. For me, it doesn't cover squat, and I find it hard to work with. Don't like it at all.
Anyway, the "best" foundation is going to be the one that works best for YOU. It may be mineral, it may be liquid, it may be cream-to-powder. But it will be whatever is best for YOU.

Have you tried Clinique Acne Solutions Liquid Makeup?
Upon the first use, I was pleasantly surprised on how natural it looked. I didn't even need to blend it into the sides, like I had to using previous products. Not only did it look natural, but it made my scars a lot less noticeable.

Samantha I'm in the same boat right now trying to figure out which foundation is best for my acne prone skin... I actually got it under control about a month ago but for some reason I have a major brake out all over my face "embarrassing" but I been wanting to try Bobbi Brown's line just haven't made it to the mall yet... I use to use BM when I was younger and it was good but after awhile seems to brake me out, also when I use mineral/powder foundation it leaves flakiness behind and I hate that... So hopefully once I make it to the mall I'll find something good enough for my acne prone skin... Good Luck with your journey
