I remember the first time I went 'All Makeup" for school. I had the Maybelline Green eyeshadow clear up to my eyebrows and tons of mascara and blush. My mom made me wash it off and instructed me how to wear makeup properly. She was very helpful, even though she did not wear during the day. That was eons ago. I wish I had stayed makeup free thru high school though. I think I would have save my skin.

Definitely start out with drugstore products. When you get more experienced with makeup, you'll know what products you need and what they could be used for.

When I started out, I used brands like covergirl, revlon, etc and they are just as good as high end brands. So give those a try!

definately coastal scents, BH cosmetics etc, it depends where you live, as the US says 'drugstore' products and that they are quite cheap, in some countries like AUS its really quite expensive, but if u can get ur hands on like NYX, ELF, they are great cheap products.
I have a recent blogpost about my favourite online stores, check it out! http://beautymarkedx.blogspot.com/

Avoid skin products until you NEED them. Enjoy your young, healthy skin while you have it!

As for brushes, I think Elf studio brushes are great. They do shed, but their 30pc. set is a great beginner set [and cheap during their 50% sales] to get a feel for what you want. I have many high end brushes and low-end brushes, and I have a few that shed the same. Also - a MUST-HAVE is the Ecotools bronzer brush for all over powder. If you decide you want to try foundation for special occassions, the Sigma synthetic face kit is another MUST-HAVE! =)

As for eyeshadows, drug stores are a great resource, a great example is the Wet-n-Wild neutral palette.

As a beginner, all you'll really need is a good eyeliner, a few shadows, and mascara. If you want to get your feet even more wet, add blush and bronzer to that mix and you've got yourself a great starter kit.

If you don't want to splurge just yet on brushes and want to opt towards saving for quality, use cream shadows and blend with your fingers. You can do so with powder shadows as well.

Hope that helped.  =)

I second the Coastal Scents products. They have a lot of sets of things that you can get for cheap and their products are good quality. I'd recommend their 88 Neutral Paulette for sure :).

Talking foundation, i think if you dont wear it now, then dont buy any! I used to just conceal and that did the job, maybe some tinted moisturiser too and id be out the door, most times i wouldnt even put anything on my skin. Now i cannot leave the house without some concealer :( I think once you get used to wearing foundation day to day, its like a bad addiction! So, if you dont think you need foundation, you probobly dont lol

Eyes, I think are great to do. In my opinion even some liner and mascara can make eyes pop! Really draws people in :)

Lips, Oh how i love lips !! I think a strong bold lip colour can be really expressive for some people including me :) Right now im digging the deep purple lip lol But I am obsessed with lip colour, so i always tell people who wear little or no makeup to try some lip colour.

Think thats all my advice....Yeah it is lol.

The elf palettes are great for beginners, as well as their brushes! I would also suggest you check out coastal scents, and crown brushes have great beginning sets! If you have an ulta near you, or any other store that may sell it, NYX is some affordable and fun make up to play around with, and I like prestidge liquid liners. For fun, colorful things, Milani is great!

a girl can't go wrong with mascara!
then play around with eyeshadow colors.
be careful with eyeliners. u don't know if ur eyes are sensitive to anything. and if u have contacts u have to practice.
i practiced for hours in front of my makeup mirror.
@ Barbara i had blue eyeshadow! lol
good luck! and have fun! u've got lots of time :)
i'm 40 & i still like to get funky with my makeup :P

If you want skin products, go for tinted moisturizer (+ concealer if needed) first. Don't forget a primer (well, if you really need it).

You can do so much with just a 4 colour palette (went n wild, revlon and prestige are all awesome) and mascara. Don't be afraid to experiment. That's how you learn. I had to teach myself pretty much everything I know because when I started with makeup, no one even knew about youtube. You're lucky. You have lots of resources to help you. If you want some tips on how to use shadow quads, I have some videos based off that.

My first shadows were all pink. With huge chunky glitter. It wasn't very long ago (only 5, almost 6 years).

You should keep it simple at first with just foundation mascara and lip gloss if you wear eye shadow you should stick with neutral colors right now. You should use drugstore brands especially e.l.f. and NYX is also a good inexpensive brand! hope this helped!:)

If your a beginner your brushes are just as important as the makeup itself. So e.l.f(eyes.lips.face) sell really great brushes. There not perfect, but the price is good for the quality(only $3 for a brush) and there great for people just starting out!

everyone is giving you drugstore advice, but if you are in fact looking for great quality high end products to get, or maybe ask as a gift i'd say this:

foundation: MAC select spf 15 foundation (absolutely love the coverage)

blush: NARS orgasm blush (universal favorite, its great!)

eyeshadow: Urban Decay NAKED palette (it has the best neutral colors and its gorgeous)

tinted moisturizer: Laura Mercier TM SPF 15 (has great and light coverage for the summer, not as heavy as foundation)

bronzer: NARS laguna bronzer or MAC bronzing powder

mascara: Benefit Bad Gal Lash (loved the length it gave me)

eyeliner: MAC Technakohl Eyeliner (lasts FOREVER)

primer: Urban Decay Primer Potion

these are just my personal favorites, clearly i stick to a few brands, but i definitely prefer higher end just because i know the product will be great.

My thoughts are slowly build up your makeup collection. I know when I first started I want to get everything right away. But I think it comes in handy to slowly build up your collection. Also since your 14 (from your profile) your parents are probably buying your makeup, right? Unless you have a job. So it saves both money. I say this in both brand names and drug store products. I know brand names such as MAC are very expensive.

I would say use the basic first. Get to know the neutrals and then start experimenting with colours.

Watch a lot of beauty gurus videos. I think watching others helps. You learn tips/tricks and can learn how apply things in the different parts of the eye. I know a lot of youtuber do looks with expensive makeup. My suggestion is anything can be recreated with the Coastal Scents palette.

With the skin stuff I would recommend keeping your skin healthy (cleanser/moisturizer). But I don't think you need foundation/concealer the whole bit. When your 14 your skin is very healthy/young looking. But if you really want to try then just do concealer. It does a pretty good job.

I hope my comment helps :)
