Hell(excuse the language), I shave all of my leg. I hate the feeling of hair, and to be honest, when my thigh hair grows back, you can't even see it. I really don't see the big deal with shaving all of your leg.
I can't use Nair or anything like that(I have a severe allergic reaction and I get burns all over my legs) so I'm kinda forced to shave.
I say shave however far up you want. There is no rule.

And I know you aren't asking me, but waxing yourself is kind of difficult. I've tried it on my legs and it NEVER seems to grab all of the hair.

I used to get my legs waxed and she only did it up to my knees but I always came out in red spots. I know that is normal after the first time but it happened all the time so I stopped, I might have to try other ways though

you may have been allergic to the wax she used. and unless your an expert at waxing don't try it yourself and if your waxing your legs then full leg. If your shaving then half leg it is :)

When I shave I shave all the leg and I've never had a problem. It doesn't look awful, I'm confused! The hair at the top of my leg is much finer and takes a while to come back, you can hardly see it. Sometimes I even epilate to just above my knee and then shave the rest!

Shave anywhere you have hair. Personally, I believe waxing is way more efficient as you actually weaken the hair follicle the more you have it done, and eventually it will thin out a bit as you get older. If you experienced red dots after waxing it usually means that all the hairs were removed from the follicle (which is what you want!) unless you were extremely itchy or inflamed, in which case may have been a mild allergic reaction.

In the summer all the way up. And in the winter- as far up as I have to lol
