Hello Beautylish peeps!
I need advice please.
I have a 15 year old sister going through puberty, she is breaking out a lot on her forehead the rest of her skin is gorgeous though, so what I need to know is does anyone have any recos for skin care products for teens??? pls let me know your thoughts.

Thank you! =)

Does she wear bangs or a side swept hair style? I find those can cause problems across the forehead because of the products used on hair.

Funny you say that because she has front bangs and I've told her to try to keep them out of the away especially at night.

What does she do for her skin currently? Is she using anything to treat the acne?

Yea, bangs can be a nasty culprit when it comes to congestion in the forehead. I'd recommend keeping them out of the way if she's not heading out/at night, to see if that helps clear it up. If her skin is otherwise fine, the forehead might just need a breather. Maybe keep to the usual routine while minding the bangs at night/once in and see if that changes anything in a week or so. If not, a gentle clay mask might help ease the congestion without introducing too many new products.. which can also cause the skin to freak out.

You are such a sweet, caring sister! Acne at that age can be so devastatingly embarassing. I totally agree with Tamara about the bangs- she probably touches them throughout the day + the natural oils in her hair= forehead acne. Also, if she's wearing any kinds of hats that could also be making it worse. Tell her to be aware if she tends to rest her head on her hands and things like that- the less she touches where she's breaking out, the better.

If she's wearing any kind of makeup make sure she's taking it off at the end of the night. Cetaphil has a good gentle cleanser. Moisturizing after cleaning is super important (I used to think it was making me break out more so I refused but I was probably making my Acne worse!). I like Aveeno Clear Complexion because it has a tiny bit of salicylic acid, which exfoliates gently.

I wish I'd gotten more aggressive treatment for my Acne when I was in high school... it ruined so many things for me because I was so self conscious! Hopefully your sister's clears up just by adopting a good cleansing routine. Good luck to you guys!

It definitely could be the hair, also a good "teen" acne care is clearasil (spelling) or for an at home kind of thin, try toothpaste, it will dry them out! Hope this helps!!

Acne is not wet, so drying it out will not help it and toothpaste is very irritating to the skin. You need to disinfect the acne with benzoyl peroxide. Clean & Clear do a product called persa gel 10 that contains 10% benzoyl peroxide; all effective BP products at the drugstore are 10% which might be too much for some people. Clinique do a 5% one called Acne Solutions Emegency gel lotion. The Benzoyl peroxide will be absorbed into the skin and will become 2% benzoic acid from a 5% BP product or 4% benzoic acid from a 10%. The Benzoic acid can kill the acne causing bacteria that caused the pimple in the first place.

@itzel actually dove is really really bad for your skin and can make your skin dry but, you can actually mix honey, sugar and olive oil and put it on your face it afterwards wait 5 minutes and then with warm water wash it off do it once or twice a week
Ps: it also make your face really soft
