Do you have a macro setting on your camera? That setting will allow you to take super-close pics clearly.

How old is your camera? If it's digital, it should have a macro setting. You're welcome!

Daylight is your best friend, otherwise, if you're dealing w/ artificial light, you're going to want to be in halogen lighting to best mimic true colors. If you're just trying to take your own photos for fun, remember to become best friends with your auto-timer, and don't stand too close if you're using flash.

I also agree w/ the macro setting above.  GL!

the macro setting usually looks like a little flower on your camera, there is usually one where you set your camera shooting settings, either a little dial or a quick button. Also i agree with Soma, real light makes everything look amazing. Good luck :)

p.s. : maybe if told us the model of your camera it would be easier to find out if you do have a macro setting :)

Your camera should have a manual focus option...maybe you can go on the menu or settings of your camera and choose and option that says "macro mode" if your still having problems just youtube it! =)

Also, if all else fails and it's a GREAT photo, but lighting is bad - you can always tweak it in photoshop or any photo editing software. If you can't get your hands on any, you can always try Irfanview - and it's a free download on www.download.com - it's enough to get your feet wet with playing with contrast and light balancing... but once addicted, you're going to want CS5...  =P

daylight, florescent lighting, macro mode on your camera, and as for the make-up if you are trying to have nice pictures of your makeup...make sure you do NOT use products that contain spf, glitter/shimmer and anything that really makes your skin glowy, because that reflects the lighting of the pictures
