A friend recently asked me this question so I though it would be fun to pass it on to all of you and see the responses.
If you were given $1,000.00 to spend ONLY on makeup would you
A. buy from brands that you normally don't .
or
B. buy and restock from your already fave brands.
I decided I would go ahead and try the brands that I have never used.brands such as Ben Nye, Graftobian, Sleek etc... I figure if I don't like them, it's not so bad since I didn't use my own money. But then I would be mad because I could have gotten more products from the companies I already love such as NYX, Nars, Smashbox. I guess it's a win & lose scenario.
What about you?

Oh wow! lol I would def. try some brand ive never tried. Id also stock up on things I love, like Wet N Wild, Smashbox, ELF then id purchase some stuff for a giveaway!

I would choose B!
My favorite brands are Urban Decay, Tarte, Smashbox, Nars, Too Faced and Bare Minerals. With a thousand bucks, I'd stock up on every Urban Decay palette, and each and everyone of Nars lipglosses!
I wouldn't know if I would try out different brands because I'm not sure if I would like them and with a thousand dollars I would want to spend it on things that I already know I'll love!
Why can't I do both? LOL
I would want to try out some things from Anastasia if given the oppurtunity or Ben Nye and Mario Ebedescu.

A bit of A and B, I think.
There's a few brands I've not yet tried that I'd like to (Too Faced, NYX, Sleek, Benefit), but there are also brands I like which have products I've not tried yet (Illamasqua blushes and lipsticks, MAC MSF(N), MUFE eyeshadows and lipsticks), and brands I like that make products I like that I want more of (NARS blushes, for example).

I would stock up on brands I love like Urban Decay, Nars, Two Face, Inglot, NYX .... I would also try some brands that I wouldn't normally buy like MUFE, Dior, Illamasqua, ect.

I would buy stuff that I know that I normally would not buy b/c I could not afford. Stock up on the stuff that I love and I know that I will need in the future. I know it sounds crazy... but $1000 is not that much money when it comes to makeup. There has to be stuff that you have been looking at for months and just pass over b/c of the $$$. You can buy yourself a airbrush machine. I love mine... it was worth every penny.

uhm Id probably pick A. Because I normally dont have the money to try brands like MUFE, Dior, Channel, Illamasqua, etc. Plus I feel like higher quality makeup goes a longer way than e.l.f, nyx, etc.

I answered this on the NYX Facebook.
I would love to get the Makeup Artist Starter Kit - A ($620.70) & Makeup Artist Starter Kit - B ($308.10). With the remaining money I'd get at least 15 of the jumbo pencils ($60). Total before tax: $988.80. If I didn't have tax then I'd get 2 more of the jumbo pencils.

Wow, never thought about the starter kits. But would totally finish my collection of thr jumbo pencils.
Elise I am with you for the Ilamasqua.
Rachael you are soooooooo right, $1,000 if not enough for makeup when you have an addiction. Lol!

HAHA... atleast I am not the only one who has an obsession. I am not working (I am on unemployment) and I am a full-time student trying to get into nursing school. The last thing I should be spending money on is make-up and I cant help myself. It doesnt help coming onto these sites or watching the Guru's on the internet. The starter kit is a great idea!!! I never thought about that. I had one years ago when I was in beauty school but that is long gone now. I wish I still had it.

I would deffinitly do both! I would stock up and buy new products. I would love to go on a $1000 makeup shopping spree right now!

This past weekend I basically did that! I spent close to $1,000 for IMATS in Toronto. I decided to try all new products instead of getting products I already had. It was an amazing show and I'm so proud of all my purchases!

i would buy all usa brand seeing that i cant get them in australia like nars, urban decay and nyx nyc stuff like that :D

I'd do both too. But since it'll be free money, I'd spend about 80% of it on never used brands, and the other 20% to restock on my favs. That way if I don't like the brands I've never tried, I won't feel guilty spending $800 on it.

Ok, so since I'm no longer on the NYX train here's my new modified reply.
If I was given $1,000 to spend on cosmetic/beauty products I would buy every single Fyrinnae shadow and blush that they sold. Every single Sugarpill loose and pressed shadow. An airbrush kit plus extra foundations as many kits retail for around $500 (give or take, depending on the kit and brand).

It would be a mix of the two. There are some brands I have yet to try but I also have my stand by faves that I would replenish as well.

I would definitely get the expensive makeup that I've always wanted but couldn't afford, and then after with the left over money I'd throw in all my favorites!
