Like many dark skinned women, I have seriously hyper-pigmentation issues. I have freckles I've given up on, along with occasional acne scaring. I've tried inexpensive and expensive products. Has anyone been truly successful in fading these facial marks?

exfoliating is great, it can be drying so you will need to apply a vit E moisturizer, which will also help to tone ur skin evenly. also products like bio-oil can help..stop pickin ur pretty face gurl!!

My skin goes through phases, but any blemish that I get will turn into a spot of hyperpigmentation even when left alone.

I haven't found any miracle product (though I did have good luck with Juice Beauty), but I've done ok by focusing on keeping the breakouts to a minimum by making sure I always wash my makeup off, frequently wash my foundation & power brushes, change my pillow cases out every few days & sleep with my hair up (or in a scarf).

Oh.. and the number one thing; SPF! Especially if you're using anything to specifically lighten dark spots (over the counter or prescription). Often those areas become very sensitive to light, and can end up darkening up even more without proper protection.

I struggled with acne scaring for a VERY long time and tried everything under the sun. Thankfully, after a very long time of trying everything that was available on the market, I MADE something that has significantly reduced the pigmentation in my scars and has evened out my complexion - it's a natural clay mask.... You have to be very careful with clay masks because many are made with nothing but garbage! I make a one with natural pure ingredients that are made specifically for scaring and pigmentation (meaning the picked the clays in it very carefully). I make it in a "wet" formula (for stretch marks and dry skin), and in a dry formula (for acne scars, pigmentation, and rosacea). Don't think I'm just trying to peddle my goods! It really works and I use it personally. You may be able to find another handmade bath & body maker that also has a similar product. I can't share my formula with you but if you'd like to check it out, see my profile for a link or message me for more info :)

I hope that helps!

Okay okay, I work at Clinique but seriously, the Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector was sent from the heavens for acne scarring. I suffer from acne discolorations, and this is the only thing that has worked for me. I'm going to be posting pictures of my results! Also, please wear a sunscreen; I can't stress this enough! It is the #1 way to stall every skin concern.

try making a face mask diy. 1- 2 tbsp of gram flour / multi purpose flour, 1 tsp of sweet almond oil, 1/4 - 1/2 tsp tumeric, some milk. Mix the ingredients together n apply on clean face. Leave for 20 mins and wash your face afterwards. I got this recipe fro farahdhukai in youtube. Personally use them until now and very happy with the result... try it out...Maybe it will work for you

@Syasya I am going to try that today.

You can find a great repair serum for that at a few different places. The important thing is to dedicate at least 1 month to a product before assuming it doesn't work. I work for Estee Lauder, and our Even Skintone Illuminator has worked absolute wonders for my freckles, acne scaring, and sun spots. I know that Clinique has a great formula similar to ours that I've heard both good and bad reviews, and Clarins also makes one that is supposedly better. Any one might work for you but you have to give it a chance. If you purchase any of the three I mentioned at a Macy's, you can try it out for THREE months and if you still don't like it you will get a full refund and try a new one. One last thing, always be sure to wear a high SPF moisturizer, sunscreen, and even foundation if you wear it because that is the number 1 cause of discoloration is from sun damage. Check out moisturizers from Elizabeth Arden, which have SPF of 50, I believe.

estee lauder serums work wonders.

For my previous acne marks I apply lemon juice as a mask every other day and exfoliate with lemon and sugar twice a week. My marks have faded :) I have a video about it if you are interested :)

I also drink a lot of water with lemon in it and a little bit of pure lemon juice with a straw :) my face is clear except for the marks but they are fading every day. I would also suggest taking multi vitamins daily.

Don't forget sunscreen. It will reverse all positive fading results if you don't protect your skin with SPF.

one of the best products to use is Prevage Clarity. It is a rather pricy product but it is something that actually works. In 11 weeks any discoloration fades away altogether or to a very faint mark. Ask one of your Elizabeth Arden Beauty Advisor about it, there motto is proof not promises. The product is the next best thing to getting a perscription from a dermatologist. It works exactly the same as one a doctor perscribes only it takes an extra 3-4 weeks because it isn't as concentrated.

Hi,
I am Esthetician, skincare professional. I have the same issue as Tamara, my skin hyperpigments from the tiniest blemish. I use spf 30+ everyday -RAIN OR SHINE, even indoors with the shades closed. I make a mask of plain yogurt (a spoonful) + about 1 tsp of turmeric it hydrates, softens, brightens and heals my skin. I also have tried ambi lightener and murad lightener (both contain hydroquinone, which is linked to cancer so i stopped use). I do not suggest using hydroquinone. La roche posay has two products for hyperpigmentation mela d serum and a lightener with vit c and kojic i believe. You can also get retina-a through term for about $10 to exfoliate and even out skin tone. I just started using meladerm and getting excellent results-visit their website.
I would avoid ambi lightener cocoa butter, shea butter, bio oil, vit e, lemon juice (too acidic on skin)..they are all great moisturizers for the body (will not give you the results you are looking for) and not meant for the face, clogs pores.
Hope this helped =)

I stopped using moisturizer once because I thought it made my skin oily. I found out later from my dermatologist that when your skin doesn't get the moisture it needs from a moisturizer, it will produce extra oil. I have used a good moisturizer ever since!
