I like the HD one for my oily skin. I have oily/combo, but I remedy the cake-prone areas with exfoliating and moisturizing daily. I've yet to try the matte velvet, but for matte looks, I just set my foundation with a very thin layer of HD powder. Hope that helps!

Mat Velvet isn't bad; I've never had it cake up on me. I've never tried HD.

i absolutely love love love matte velvet i also have oily skin and it dosent cake up on me like other foundations have....i mean it made especially to mattify the skin so i think that it would work best with oily skin and it is very buildable....your problem might be that your are using to heavy of a foundation....you might also want to try a foundation that is very sheer mac has the face and body foundation that is alot sheerer then their other foundations which in my opinion are to heavy for oily skin. i know mac isnt one of the ones that your looking at but just a suggestion. hope this helps! :D

hmm. that might be it. because my face cakes more when i use revlons colorstay (no matter how many people told me it was great, its one of my least favorites), and loreal's truematch. my problem is too that if i were to get the matte velvet, my skin tends to get dry sometimes too, and it happens out of nowhere so im not sure which i should get.

mufe has face and body foundation it's great for dry skin( very sheer). I have the same problem like u too so i skipped matt velvet plus in the winter but use it during summer. Now i'm using estee lauder max coverage coz i got terrible hyperpigmentation caused by acne and this one coverage is really good but need extra careful in application. I use sigma f80 brush, less than a pea size foundation, and mix it with pixi primer. I dont have the flaky problem on my cheeks anymore. Applying argan oil before foundation also helps to moisturize drier areas.Try and see what can work for you .
