Non-strip Wax?

Hey beautiful people!

I've been wanting to buy a wax because I'm sick of having to drive 30 minutes to get my brows waxed and then having to pay $20 every 2 weeks.

I was wondering if anyone has bought any stripless or non-strip wax (however you want to call it) and how it worked out for you....

If not then what wax do you use? (whether it's stripless or not) I just want more info on waxing (even though I've researched it on the internet.) I want real reviews, which is why I posted this , thanks ! ;)

I tried Gigi strip free Honee kit because of all these reviews online about it being pain free. Looking back I really don't know why I bought it lol. The stuff in the kit was pretty lame but the wax was alright. I've never been waxed/ never self waxed so it was definitely an experiment. It didn't get all the hair but it did get most of it so I was surprised. It also left behind quite a few pieces of wax. I tried waxing my underarms with it but it was a disastrous fail! i definitely need some more practice :)So I'll probably never put it anywhere near my face! Also had to run downstairs to reheat every 15 minutes or so :/

I also read a lot of reviews where people thought it worked better with strips

I think your talking about Hot Wax. Maybe? lol. I have my own waxing pot & do all my own waxing. Hot wax is usually for smaller areas of the body (where thicker hair usually grows) such as eyebrows, underarms, bikini etc. Investing in a wax pot is a great way to save serious $$. I find using hot wax is far less painful than using strip wax. Plus you don't have to buy the strips so thats another saving.

Thanks for replying and sharing girls! Very much appreciated!

@Lenaaa I've seen mixed reviews on the GIGI strip free honee kit, that's why I'm turned off by it because when products are a hit or miss for people in general...they tend to be a miss for me! Thank you so much for sharing, I'm definitely not getting that wax!

@Jessica Probably ! I researched it and what always came out was "stripless or strip free this...non strip that..." so I really don't know what it's called; I sincerely say I learned something new if it's called Hot wax lol. That's what I'm looking for something to wax my eyebrows, that I don't need strips for. What do you use? What brand ?Where did you buy it?

I like the Gigi Honee myself and I use that one. But for a cheap quick try, I like the Sally Hansen microwaveable wax. It comes with muslin strips and everything you need. Just test the wax on your wrist first, it should feel warm but not sting. I hate strip-free! It's almost impossible to start the strip after its hardened. My first ever bikini wax was with hard wax and the lady was like flicking up the edge of it. (shudders) It was horrible. Go for the honee. But I prefer the white papery strips to the muslin. Those leave little strings everywhere.

I have a Hi Lift wax pot & I usually buy Lycon brand hot wax. I apply it with popsticks/ wooden spatulas. I buy all my stuff from Norris which is a beauty warehouse only for students & therapists who work in the industry. I'm fully qualified & have a trade card. However, you can get all this stuff online. Just put it into Google & research prices :)

I hope you find what works best for you x x

We use a "hard wax" at my spa for all our facial, underarm and bikini waxing. It's much more gentle on those sensitive areas and if you apply correctly, it is very easy to remove. You have to remember to leave a little "lip" so that you have something to grab onto when you pull the wax. If you get a wax with lanolin in it, it will help with the flexibility of the wax, so that it does not crack or dry too fast. Great for beginners. Just make sure you are not allergic to it. You can also look for azulene hard waxes which is great for sensitive skin. A tip to proper application for larger areas (if you decide to do other than your brows) is to imagine you are applying peanut butter. If you do invest in a wax pot, I HIGHLY recommend in investing in one that has more to the setting besides "On" or "Off"...you don't want to burn or wait forever for the wax to cool off. If you can't find that, investing in medicine cups (iParty or Party City has them) and you can put the wax in there to cool. Good luck!

@Jennifer - Sorry about your bad experience with hard wax! When I do my bikini waxing for clients, my edges are thick enough that no flicking is needed! I hold the skin taut and grab the wax in one swift motion...that's how it should be done, unless the wax was applied to thin at the edges. Then it gets difficult to remove, thus the flicking! No fun! (PS I always apply immediate slight pressure to the area after I pull...it's helps lessen the pain of waxing tremendously! It's like you're tricking the nerves!)

@ Jennifer , omgahh sorry to see that you had a bad experience with hard wax! I mean where I get my brows done they use "hard wax" and I love it , that's why I was asking for opinions on brands and to use! I'll look into the honee again, I've just read so many mixed reviews I'm not sure what to believe. For instance, someone said that the wax doesn't harden and it's super messy....is that true?

@ Jessica I'll definitely look for the Lycon brand hot wax online to see what it's all about! Thank you! I've never heard of or seen a Norris where I live by , but I will look online, once again thank you!

@ Lindsay, thank you SOO much for sharing that tip with me! Also thanks for posting because after reading what you said I have a little more knowledge on hardwax. I go to Uni.K.Wax to do my eyebrows but I would really like to invest on a good wax and do it myself (like I previously posted) thank you so much for posting , I appreciate it ! I will look for wax with lanolin in it and Azulene waxes as well.

I would never do waxing on myself unless I am an esthetician. Now when it comes to stripless waxing I feel like the people who are best at it are European Wax Center. IDK if you heard of them or not but, they have this really cool kinda blue wax that doesn't require a strip and it doesn't adhere to your skin like most waxes do. I went there once and found the pain minimal. IDK if there is one near you but I suggest you try them for stripless waxing! Here is their site just in case: http://www.waxcenter.com/

I use Sally Hansen's Brazilian wax kit! I get it at CVS and the most trouble I have with it is actually working up the nerve to pull it off lol. It's no more painful than have a tech do it for you! Let me know if you try it! :)
