What drug store brand of hair products would you recommend to someone with very thick, coarse, frizzy hair? I have used Garnier Frutis a lot in the past and it always seems to make my hair sticky. I just want to hear other people's opinions on what has worked for them so I can know what to look out for the next time I go shopping! :-)

I use pantene pro-v beautiful lengths replenishing mask once a week now, I used to use it everyday, it leaves your hair really soft and less frizz, for me anyways. I've gone through 3 or 4 jars already!

I have very thick, coarse & frizzy hair as well (in addition to my crazy curly hair). I love my Herbal Essences shampoo & conditioner, and for hair products I swear by Aussie products!

Brianna- I've never tried Aussie before, which one of their products do you recommend?
I love Herbal Essences because of their scent, I used to use their leave in conditioner but started using Organix Nourishing coconut milk anti-breakage serum because it made my hair shinier.
I have a problem with products making my hair sticky and frizzy, and my hair turning from straightened to curly over time due to humidity.
Do you think a clarifying shampoo would be safe or not a good idea? My friend a long time ago told me it would over dry my hair so I never gave it a chance.

I like their hairsprays and their mousse! They work really well.

Aussie's 3 minute miracle deep conditioner is literally that - a miracle.

I used to have the same hair you described! Everyday (or whenever my hair is wet), I must use leave-in conditioner or else my hair will be dry. I use Garnier Fructis' leave-in conditioner for frizzy hair and it works! In the shower, once a week I used V05's Hot Oil (deep conditioning treatment), and my shampoo and conditioner consists of John Frieda's Full Repair Shampoo and Loreal's Excellence Conditioner (not sure if they sell this separately...it comes with my hair dye). Another factor is probably I don't blow dry my hair, and do as little heart damage to it as possible.

Candace, I have the same type of hair that you described-- exactly! I just did a video on how I keep my hair not as frizzy and healthy by using Neutrogena and Organix products and how much they helped my hair. check it out if you want.
I would type it all out for you but my hands might get tired lol. I hate to be a self promoter, I am just trying to save myself a tid bit of time!

I can't recommend a good one, but I can warn against a bad one:
L'Oreal - their new Sulfate-free brand. Their shampoos are awful - not clarifying at all, and does not lather unless you shampoo 2-3x's. Their conditioners don't moisturize whatsoever! I'm just rushing to use it all up now... but it's nothing compared to Avalon Organics. Still looking for a better shampoo/conditioner. =(

So even though I haven't used it myself, I heard from a VERY reliable source (Kristina H.) that Aussie 3 minute miracle is amazing. I've been meaning to buy some myself!

Soma S, i LOVE the L'Oreal sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner. I have the EverStrong collection and really like it. I actually get an amazing lather. I was surprised by this because I have read everywhere that sulfate free shampoo's don't lather very well, but this shampoo lathers intensly for me.
I have the organix sulfate free keratin shampoo and conditioner too, now that shampoo is really hard to lather. I still like it though.
I have read that the sulfate is what makes other shampoos lather, so it would be normal for a sulfate free shampoo to have a hard time lathering right?
Anyways, just two different opinions on the same product! :)
Goes to show that while some things work on some people they don't on others!

Soma...Sulfate free shampoos usually don't lather. I use hair one (Sally's version of Wen) and it doesn't lather at all. The sulfates can cause hair to be dull and lifeless. Hair One is great. They have a formula for dry, colored, dry scalp, normal and now they have one for curly hair.

Stay away from Pantene and Aussie, as a hair dress whenever my clients who use those shampoos it has damaged their hair the most, specially aussie, very brittle and drying.
I tend to like Herbal Essence, Suave Proffesional, Tressemee, John Frieda, and ABOVE ALL Organix :)
