Honestly it depends on which brand you use :) I have tried both the covergirl BB cream and tinited moisturizer and noticed that my skin did appear to look brighter and more awake with the BB cream :) I don't know if this is the case with all brands, but I hope that helped :)

Well, if you're looking at American brands, no difference. If you're looking at Asian brands, bb cream all the way. But still not as much coverage as a foundation.

BB Cream would give you more coverage than tinted moisturiser. I agree what Rose M. said, western BB Creams are just fancy tinted moisturisers, I'm afraid, so if you are looking for proper BB Cream try Asian ones from Korean brands for example, like: Etude House, Skin79, Missha, Lionele, Skinfood, Innisfree or Holika Holika.
