In the next couple of days I am traveling to California for a 5 hour flight. Do you prefer I put my makeup before, on, or after the flight. Please also let me know on your travel makeup essentials! I have little knowledge about travel on a plane with makeup. Mainly what I've heard is the airplane can be really drying to the face??...

Don't put any foundation, concealer, blush, a little shadow and Vaseline, carry the basics like mascara, shadow, lipstick, gloss, blush with you in a little bag. I think that's all I need cos that's what I usually do.

Airplanes dry your skin so a really good tinted hydrating moisturiser, a lip balm and or tint, mascara and a brown eye liner (IMO it's not as harsh as a black) the less fuss the better.

That's weird I never heard of that before.I alz put full blown mkup on,I wear wht makes me comfortable.I believe n getting dressed up no matter where I go especially whn traveling.I suggest chew gum, wear clean shoes, dnt carry on more than 3oz,remember ul have to tke off thgs whn being scanned.Keep n mind you might have to pay for your cases to go on the plane.Sme thgs are more important than mkup.

I fly fairly often and don't experience any noticeable drying of the skin. I wear my normal makeup to travel. Just make sure you don't have any fluids in your purse or carry on or they might confiscate them at the airport. I used to carry all my makeup in my carry on but now I pack it in my checked luggage and just carry a lipgloss in my purse. If you need to carry more than that with you, check with the airline about their restrictions. That info will be on their specific website.

I like to buy clear travel size bottles for my lotions and shampoo and conditioner so I don't have to bring the whole bottle. And be sure to put everything in ziploc bags in your luggage in case it expands under pressure- you don't want it to leak on clothes. Also, Sephora and a lot of make up counters will give you samples which are great for travel because they take less space. And always travel with your own pillow and blanket- airplane stuff is icky! I always bring a pashmina. Safe travels :)

Moisturize well, and carry extra moisturizer, just in case. You can wear foundation, but being in an airplane is not great for skin, so I suggest not wearing any. Don't use the water in the airplane sinks, because there's lots of junk in there, only use bottle water for your face. I usually pack lip balm/gloss, wet wipes (Huggies natural care won't break out your face, and is gentle), hand and body lotion, and drink LOTS of water. You can put the other stuff on (shadow, mascara, liner, etc) before the flight. WEAR SUNSCREEN. In a plane, you are closer to the sun's rays, and get a higher dose of it. I don't recommend foundation, or most makeup, because you don't know how your skin will react, so better to put on after. Also, make sure you bring something warm, it gets cold on planes! And don't drink alcohol. And don't pack the type of makeup (especially eyeshadows), which crumble easily. I packed my Stila Kitten, and when I arrived, it was all mashed to bits. Have fun!

Honestly no make up and yoga pants is the best way to travel :) maybe just some mascara and carry your Chapstick also!

I always take a face spray, like the evian one or I even use my mac fix plus, just to freshen up my skin. Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream is a must!

I usually wear a full day face to travel, unless I'm flying red eye or internationally... I've literally been on a plane once a month since birth lol my dad works for the airlines. Anywho I've never experienced drying unless it had something to do with the climate change..

Not necessarily regarding makeup, but general advice when flying: wear flat shoes that slip on and off easily because they have to come off and go through the xray, don't wear skinny jeans or tight clothing because they will be uncomfortable and put you at risk for a serious blood clot, and wear a sweater because it can get chilly. :)

My husband and I are both commercial pilots and yes, the air in the plane is recirculated for the duration of the flight, that's why it's so dry. The planes I fly don't do that, but whenever I travel as an airline passenger, I take Cetaphil moisturizer, eye drops, and just my bare makeup basics since I prefer to travel light. Usually only 3-4 items.
Also, if you're packing your makeup in a carry-on bag, any liquids or gels need to be in containers of 3.4 oz or less. Anything larger needs to be in checked luggage.
And if you have any more questions about airline travel, I'd be happy to answer them! :-)

Whenever I travel especially on a plane I never wear makeup. Mainly because I also leave earlyyyyyy in the morning & I simply don't have the time nor the desire to do a full face of makeup. I usually do my brows, throw on some mascara & a lip gloss. I usually sleep on the plane so my makeup would end up coming off anyways. When I reach my destination & really have time, that when I do my full face. That's if wherever I went isn't too hot.
