Heatless:
Bobby pin curls. Look at Andreaschoice on YouTube, she has a video about it.
With heat, use a wand or iron. If you want the "perfect curl" use the iron. The "undone curl" or "beachy wave" is where the wand comes in. It's really up to you and using trial and error to find what works best.

I think the curling wand works the best for tight curls, a regular curling iron works good for full voluminous curls. like Sutton said use trial and error to find what you like best for your hair.
