OMG my hair is so thick too! It's so hard to braid but the way I curl doesn't come out poofy. So what I like using is a wand.

And don't run your hands through the curls or it gets poofy.

My hair is naturally straight.. So that's how I usually use it.. Thanks. Imma try not to touch the curls and put my hair up in a high ponytail.

Something that I find when I curl my hair is if I only curl the bottoms of the hair on the bottom section, it helps to give more length and make it stick out less!

Try using a curling wand with a higher temp. Or Milkmaid braids, I learned how to do that on a video by Simon and Martina, I think the channel's name is simonandmartinabonus.

Heey! I suffer from the same problem at times I just leave my hair down and take my 2 inch curling iron and curl only sone pieces. This will give you a natural looking head of curls abd its super easy and pretty!
