I'm not a natural, but I have noticed that a lot of the natural haired ladies I like to watch on YouTube like the Miss Jessie's line of products. I suggest looking on the hair boards like LHCF, Hairlista, K.I.S.S, Naturally Curly, etc., and see what other naturals are liking, raving about, or steering clear from. I hope that helps!

I've been natural since I was 16 and i remember grabbing miss jessie's products when the only place you could buy it was at this store called Soda Fine in forte green brooklyn! miss jessie's products are overpriced. Curly pudding? that junk dried SOOOO hard and didn't stretch not ONE curl on my head. I had to go in after with heat to "shingle" which is not fun in the summer and a WHOLE lot of work. Needless to say, if i were you i'd go to walgreens or target and pick up some of the "shea moisture" products. they are a WHOLE lot nicer on the wallet. i didn't love the curl pudding product they have, but the shampoos and conditioners are great. I also like the hold and style mist and the curling cream. And my favorite gel is the black ecostyler. Not all natural, but love love love it. My favorite conditioner isn't all natural either, but it's suave humectant. cheap and awesome!

I have extremely kinky curly hair and I agree, Miss Jessie's products did nothing for me and I wasted a TON of money. I found Creme of Nature Argan Oil products work really well to help moisturize my hair. Its cheap and smells great! I use the Kinky Curly line of products and Mixed chicks which are both sold at Target for a good price.

I just recently cut my hair, and I am using Kinky-Curly hair products. I like the way my hair feels after using it. I am open to trying new products though. And Kinky-Curly is much cheaper than Miss Jessie's, especially for a college student on a budget!

I've been using Mane N Tail Conditioner and Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Shampoo. Styling products many people say EVOO, Eco Styler gel and Coconut oil are good. You can check youtube. There are tons of videos on styling TWA's

Wow! I have the complete opposite experience with Miss Jessies products. I use Miss Jessies Curly Meringue and it doesn't dry out my hair at all. There are three others from that line that is also in my collection but the Curly Meringue gives me the best results ever. The Shea Moisture line actually dried out my hair and the shampoo turned my mane into a knotted mess. :( I've been natural for quite awhile now (its been several years) and I've had success with Carol's Daughter, Kinky-Curly and Mixed Chicks. And of course good old fashion olive oil has been my best friend. For you its going to be all about trial and error since you are just starting out but once you find that right mix of products you will be very happy. :)
