One moves around in the compact, one does not. Pressed powders a usually a little bit less dry because moisture/alcohol/water was used to press it together. If you're an oily skin girl, go for loose or a pressed powder that specifically says "mattifying". For drier skin, pressed is the way to go. But in all honestly, both work.

Loose powder is for more oiler skin people and pressed powders are more for normal skin but pressed can be used for anyone. The loose powder just soaks up oil better.

I think she means the difference the two provide... not how the difference of texture is.

Loose powder processed to be a little more finer to be more sheer or opaque. So I would definitely use this to finish a client's makeup.
Pressed powder processed to be compressed to stay in a compact for on the go and touch ups and since it's more compressed and how it's made it's usually heavier in terms of coverage.
hope that helps
