Does dyeing your hair darker damage it?

Ik bleaching your hair Is bad but if I just wanna go darker will my hair get ruined and stripped?

My hair was originally brown... My hair is now blonde. I took a lot of bleach. If you do it right it shouldn't be that bad. But my hair dresser said I have strong hair so... Whatever that means. But yes over time you hair will become damaged.

I just want to dye it one time. I've let the old color come back and haven't dyed it in five years. But my hair can break really easily. I have very thin weak hair.
