Depends on how long your hair is and how satisfied you are. My hair is VERY long so anything I get done takes a long time and a lot of effort so I'm a generous tipper. I usually leave 20-30 dollars. Hope that helps.

It depends, if you are unhappy or have a rude stylist, not much. They are supposed to pamper and make you feel amazing.

I have enough hair for two heads and its curly so I usually give the stylist who does my quarterly trims $40 bucks. Stylists remember great tippers and will go out of their way to keep you as a regular (provided they did a great job after that first intial visit). If you have a not so lovely first experience then tip just 15%.

I believe the industry standard is 20% and goes up from there depending on your satisfaction.

@Traci...I believe that if someone offers me great service then they deserve to be rewarded beyond the norm. I consulted a salon owner and with booth fees/material fees that a stylist has to shell out those tips are blessings.

Hi Girls!
Thank you for all your imput. Well I have some good news! I went to ulta for the first time to get my haircut and color and my hair turned out fabulous. I am so happy. I really love my stylist. we had a great time. I knew when I first talked to her that she would be the one to do my hair. I love following my inner knowings, because its always right. And another good thing happened for me today is she gave me 20% off, because of a promotion thejr having for new clients. I am so excited I finally found someone who does an excellent work.
