my hair is textured & color treated for 4 years now. it's definitely on the long side but breaks easily. it's got body. body as in frizz but it's straight for the most part with a few kinks here & there. I've experimented with different kinds of curlers on my hair & I love it so I'm trying to decide whether or not I should get a perm... thoughts?

Only get the perm if you wont be heartbroken should you have to chop it all off. I did a perm years ago and loved it for the first week. After that it devolved into a nasty mess of crunchy frizz I just could not seem to fix, and I ended up going with a bob to resolve this. This may not happen to you, but just in case, heres a warning that it is a possibility

I don't recommend it. I have done perms on a few younger girls and by that I mean 20's cause it's mostly elderly woman that get them. They all loved it at first but after a few weeks the said it just got old. Not to mention how much damage they do. If you do decide to do it just make sure you have someone experienced because I've seen a lot of young stylists over process it what happens then is it fries and goes stick straight in places...not a good look and all you can to is let it grow out and cut it if you don't want it anymore.

A perm is hard to keep up, I agree with the other ladies a lot of older women have them and depending on what you have done to your hair it could destroy your hair. If you want a perm look every once in awhile go to a beauty store and buy a couple bags of long foamy rod like deals I believe the only ones I have seen anywhere are animal printed, and place them in the night before or several hours before you go out and you will get a really close perm look.
