How do I get popping colours of eye shadow to stay put?

I've tried many awesome colours of eye shadow, but they don't seem to pop (stay bright once on my eye - I hope that makes sense) also, no matter how good the eye makeup is it seems to shift into the creases. I use smashbox eye shadow primer. is there any way to make them pop/stop shifting? is this possibly because of skin tone? I don't know, just trying to figure it all out... :-)

I sometimes use a cream shadow ass the base then pat a matching powder shadow over it, it helps to set the cream and the powder only enhances/depends the color.

You can use a mixing medium. Water, mac mixing medium.. Various others. When you foil eyeshadow.. Or wet it down they have way more vibrancy or "pop"

Awesome pic Angelique!
I have used M.A.C paint pot in painterly and Urban Decay Primer Potion and never had a creasing issue with either. Oh, you want brightness? Well that's the shadow itself. You can try to apply the shadow wet for a brighter look or invest in better shadows like M.A.C, UD, or MUFE for example.

I love NYX WHITE shadow base-works wonders and my colors pop all day with no yucky creases (and I live in hotass Az lol).
Urban Decays Primer Potions are great too but the white NYX base has never failed me and it's hella cheap at Ulta.  :)

I agree I use nyx white paint pot on my clients of mac white paint stick and the colors look bright and pop or inglot white cream shadow base.

You guys are all awesome thank you! I will try the white pencil and light base. I have makeup forever eye shadow colours as well as M.A.C. so I don't know why the colours are not popping. I know I have had problems with nude lipstick looking white on me... Tina, I love the brightness of the blue! thanks for sharing! Annie S. what is foil eye shadow? could I use primer as a mixing medium? thanks! Angelique M. WOW! just wow! definitely getting the pencil! Bree B. I haven't tried the urban decay primer, I'll grab that too! again, you all rock! lol ;-)

My sister has crazy oily lids, so when I was going to do her makeup for her wedding last year I bought the NARS eyeshadow primer and it worked wonders! No creasing, smudging, or trouble at all. I would recommend that primer if you're willing to splurge. It's honestly not so bad, works way better than either the Too Faced Primer Potion or the UD and it's only about $6 more than those two.

I also love to use the Maybelline color tattoos as a base. They have such a great varied selection of colors that you can get any color to pop :)
